    Must See: Blade II

Blade%202.jpg Must-see movies are futuristic classics that shouldn't be missed. Of course, not every must-see is perfect. That's why we've rated them 1-5 on the patented "crunchy goodness" scale.

    Title: Blade II
    Date: 2002

Vitals: One of the first vampire flicks to go science fictional, Blade II is about an illuminati-style group of elite vampires who have genetically engineered a race of "super vampires" to slay their enemies. Fighting them is badass hero Blade, a half-vampire known as "Daywalker" because he can fight like a vamp but survive sunlight. Directed by Mexican horror maestro Guillermo Del Toro, this sequel is so much better than its predecessor that you might as well not watch Blade and skip straight to Blade II.

Famous names: Guillermo Del Toro, Wesley Snipes, Kris Kristofferson, Ron Perlman

    Crunchy goodness: 4

Elevator pitch: It's the Godfather crossed with Dracula and multiplied by Gattica!

Design breakthrough: Visual wizard Del Toro created a bizarro netherworld of goth-mech devices for his vampire mad scientists, who are whipping up the vampire super race in a lab that manages to look like the bastard stepchild of Craig Venter's office and Cher's bedroom.

Life lesson: Don't fuck with vampires who have graduate degrees in genetics.
