Great battle scenes are few and far between, especially when animated alien-bot wars are what make your blood boil. When you want your alien-bot war, the only thing to do is watch Masks, an short created by Microsoft's Zune Arts and NYC design studio PandaPanther. It's packed with horned blue aliens in pumpkin head masks, black bots in red boots, dramatic slo-mo, psychedelic watermelons, and a Black Angels soundtrack. Hundreds die, but when the respective leaders pick up each other's battle masks, they see magical things and become friends.
A lot of people still refer back to Mel Gibson's Braveheart as the ultimate in hand-to-hand combat. The problem is that Braveheart is set in the 13th century. I don't know anyone from the 13th century, so how am I supposed to relate/sympathize/care? This battle, however, I can totally relate to.
