Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto likes soft, blobby, stretchy membrane-like things. He likes to hang them from walls, slather them across the floors, and wrap human beings in them. He uses materials like nylon and cotton for maximum softness, and sometimes even fills them with aromatic spices. People love going to see his exhibits because they somehow manage to fill observers with the warm fuzzies and creep them out at the same time.

These hanging cocoons remind me of the suspension pods in Barbarella. Where the affluent members of society were getting wasted on drugs.
all i can think of is applebags.
ernest neto is actually a xenomorph in disgise that wants to impregnate anyone foolish enough to recline in his furniture while the struggle to escape from the enveloping folds.
We all float down here!
the squishy things need to get on my bed, like now. in fact, the squishy things could probably out right replace my current mattress setup.
dr. who called and he wants his props back.
@sovereign_state:
I second that, these look way more comfortable than that love bed thing making the blog rounds.
There is definitely a creepy-cuddly thing that makes me think that I saw an ambulatory version of this in a Miyazaki film... you know, cute, but it might be hanging out so that it can suck your soul out of your body. For some reason I feel like I want this cat to team up with Ron Mueck for the total bad dream art experience.
@Lydia9: also quite reminiscient of Totoro...
Just makes me think of the awesome "winged creatures" from Beastmaster.
Still one of my favorite movie creatures ever.
@ElijahDProphet: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
actually i was thinking that'd make an excellent epitaph. *shudder*
Color 'em pink and it's "Killer Klownz fro Outer Space".
Kinda reminds me of the spiderweb in Krull.
@hypocriteoath: They strike me as more like the Rover from The Prisoner.
Alien bug pods.
Mommy, I'm scared!
It reminds me of those magnified pictures of fungus you see on science shows.
