Welcome to Morning Spoilers, where we wake you up with a blast of forbidden intel. We bring you episode guides from the future for movies and shows that haven't happened yet. Click through for a full summary of Cloverfield, plus a first look at the Time Traveler's Wife movie.
- A possibly fake but super-detailed summary of Cloverfield says the monster is a giant humanoid, with a scaly face and angry red eyes. It sheds parasites which grow inside people until they explode and smaller jagged-tooth monsters bust out. (Or maybe the parasites come from tainted Slusho! drinks?) The annoying "slut" dies early on (shockingly) and pretty much everyone dies later. Going back to find the injured Beth turns out to be a mistake. So does getting on that evac helicopter. The movie ends when the "cameraman" and his battery are both about to die. [1-18-08News]
- There are a lot of "really really unique" robots in the maybe-delayed Transformers 2, promises director Michael Bay. [Slashfilm]
- Another tidbit about Cadet Kirk cheating on the Kobiyashi Maru no-win-situation test in Star Trek: apparently his brilliant re-programming of the simulation consists of seducing a woman into fixing it for him. [CinemaBlend]
- Shannyn Sossamon's character in One Missed Call has an abusive past, which may be why the evil force chooses her cellphone to hijack. Meanwhile, a diminutive knife-killer slaughters tons of cute young girls, exults star Edward Burns. [ShockTillYouDrop]
- Battlestar's Aaron Douglas (Chief Tyrol) is an alien-hater who locks Clark in a special prison, on Smallville. [Kryptonsite]
- Heroes rumor: Volume Three, "Villains," will feature a new big bad named Benjamin Washington who rampages through New Orleans and kills Micah. [SuperHiro.org]
- Besides the "Oceanic Six" who get off the island in Lost, one other person escapes during season four. [SpoilerFix]
- First two Doctor Who episode titles in season four are "Partners In Crime" and "The Sontaran Stratagem." The latter is written by Helen "Daleks In Manhattan" Raynor, so be warned. [Spoiler TV]
- Meanwhile in Who spinoff Torchwood, Jack and Ianto follow up their "stopwatch" innuendo by going on a real date. [ickleprince]
- If you miss Journeyman, you'll welcome preview images from The Time Traveler's Wife, the movie of Audrey Niffenegger's novel about a woman (Rachel McAdams) who marries a guy (Eric Bana) who time-travels when he gets stressed.[CinemaBlend]

Some of this is good news but Im still not sure about cloverfield. The previews make it seem like a Godzilla movie.
"'The Sontaran Stratagem'(...) is written by Helen "Daleks In Manhattan" Raynor, so be warned."
That's the horrible episode with a hybrid Dalek/human. It's rumoured that her Sontarans have been gene spliced with Mr Potato Head.
ITS A FAKE!
Though I do think everyone dies, its been proven the thing is a fake. For one thing the monster is not humanoid at all, its a Whale/crab thing from what other people who have seen a pre-screening have said.
@Falconfire: I think you're right. Too many spoilers have been leaked for me to think that Cloverfield would end any other way.
I am going to love reading spoilers every morning!
@BeAgrestic: Cloverfield looks like a good movie, but then I remember the hype over "Godzilla" and well... we'll see. BTW, why does everyone have to destroy NYC? Are they trying to beat Tokyo in the category "world city destroyed most number of times in the movies?"
Kirk seducing a woman? Nah! Never gonna' happen! That wouldn't be canon! ;)
I hated the book Time Traveler's Wife -- putting Rachel McAdams in the lead ain't gonna make me like her lame-o character any more... though Eric Bana as the guy may help.
@NefariousNewt: I think it has to do with what NYC symbolizes. Power, Prosperity, Greed, etc. But yeah, I agree with you. Why not destroy L.A.?
because L.A. is already dead.
@BeAgrestic: Maybe because L.A. doesn't have iconic structures/buildings. Remember "Independence Day?" Or "Armageddon?" I think watching the Chrysler Building, or Empire State Building, or Brooklyn Bridge collapse engenders more feeling than say, L.A. Coliseum? Of course, San Fran I think has enough stuff to make it a better target. Iwas just thinking that after 9/11, people would feel weird about watching NYC being crumbled to dust.
@Falconfire: I heard something about the monster being killed off early on, and then lice destroying the city. That may have been debunked, though.
The viral marketing is tired at this point. I don't have very high hopes. Maybe I just want to see another city get the shit kicked out of it for a change, too. Not L.A., I agree. But what about Orlando? A secret society of aliens living inside of EPCOT would be tremendous.
So... this would be the second stress anomaly role Eric Bana will play.
According to one TOS episode ("Shore Leave"), Kirk was a nerd who was bullied at the academy. If the movie's writers are smart, they'll make that part of the plot.
Eric Bana is NOT how I envisioned Henry. I pictured someone nerdier, ectomorphic, and squinty... Like Rhys Ifans with a buzzcut.
@hortense: Yeah, I don't expect much from Cloverfield at this point either. It's starting to remind me of the Blair Witch Project.
@jennaw: Seriously? I think it's an *amazing* book. The movie shots aren't super exciting, but it's a fucking great book. If they ruin it, I will murder someone.
@SurplusJ: I hated the title character. So. Much. She was such a dishrag. Such a nothing. She spent her whole life waiting. She was all about HIM from near-infancy to decrepit old age, and when he wasn't around, she just sat there waiting for him to maybe show up for three seconds. That isn't love; that's just sad.
The daughter? Now THERE was a fantastic character. Whole damn book should have been about her.
And Rachel McAdams' hair isn't long enough, nor red enough for her to be Clare. I will boycott!
@NefariousNewt: Because NYC, D.C. are easily recognizable the world over. Noone is going to go see a movie where a giant monster trashes Rapid City, SD...
@JDGiotta: I almost pointed out that this is Bana's second role where something science fictional happens when he gets stressed out. But I try to keep the morning spoilers really brief. But thanks for pointing that out!
@NefariousNewt: You're right. A lot of us New Yorkers do feel weird about it, and a whole bunch of us would be excited about Cloverfield if it had been set someplace else.
Yes, I agree. There are no survivors in Cloverfield, and it does look like Slusho is tainted.
And Kirk seducing someone to do his dirty work ... who'd a thunk it?! ;-) He isn't a programmer, of course he got some hottie to do it for him. Though it would have been a twist if the hottie was actually an AI or something.
I don't get the big deal about Time Traveler's Wife either. It was a horrid book. I don't know what other book people were reading.
Im not sure about the Slusho being tainted part, but I think its pretty obvious Slusho is the reason that this thing is alive given their secret ingredient is brought up from the bottom of the ocean....
Whale/crab eggs perhaps?
