A young girl gets caught in the middle of a post-apocalyptic war in Descendants, a new movie from Chile. The only people who survive the military death squads are the ones infected with a weird disease that leaves sores all over their bodies. Descendants, also known as Solos, is sort of a zombie movie but it looks way more like a post-apocalyptic survival film. Click through for a gallery of stills, and info about another future dystopia movie that's fighting off the zombie label.
Doomsday, coming in May, is post-apocalyptic but not a zombie movie. People assume Doomsday features zombies because it's about a plague that wipes out most of the population, complains director Neil Marshall. But no. The plague liquefies your insides, but you don't ever come back to (un)life after that. People probably also jump to the zombie conclusion because Doomsday involves the infected Scotland being walled off, and everybody knows Scotland is full of zombies already. [Rabid Doll]

I thought Scotland was full of warp drive engineers!
You learn something new every day.
now this is my kind of movie. I'd rather see this than another remake or superhero film. But then, I heart zombies (or the like) so...I'm at a disadvantage.
Descendants looks interesting but very amateur. They spelled the title wrong..?
ARRRGH! Infected are not zombies. They're undead (at best). Zombies implies voodoo or Jesus.
Speaking of international zombies, it looks like Barcelona has also been overun.

I'd like to see a film festival devoted to films of that genre not made for U.S. audiences. Maybe the chart should have a less Englishy twin?
I'm looking forward to Doomsday (the movie, not the event... ok, the event as well). I'm a sucker for post-apocalyptic flicks and Neil Marshall shows a lot of promise.
@Jimmydare: And Athens, Greece was overun a while ago too.

Europe is going down, man...
This looks rather good. Never really considered Chile as a movie producing country before..
It's too pretty for a zombie movie and kids as protagonists are a terrible decision for anything.
Still, it's pretty enough to pique my interest.
Whoa. Post-apocalyptic survival film starring a little girl with zombie-ish infected?!? Did they read my mind? I want to see this IMMEDIATELY.
MUTANTS, people! These are old-school MUTANTS (y'know, the gross kind, not the superhero kind) not zombies!
