The writers strike will really start to take its toll on television this winter. Many fall shows won't ever wake up from the winter hibernation, and everyone will get sick of game shows and reality TV offerings. So, we've begun working on the io9 time circuits and blowing the dust out of our flux transistors (capacitors, what a joke). What television shows would you like to see return from the graveyard of canceled shows and appear back on TV with brand new episodes? Take a spin on the poll below and let us know.

Farscape... a good stark trek...
Oh and where is the poll?
I voted for "Earth 2" because, while not as good as "Firefly," it isn't nearly as irritatingly overrated.
I like the idea of an older Courtney Cox playing an older TK. She could be the mentor of the new Misfits. Farscape, MSTK3K (check out [www.rifftrax.com] if you really need a fix), Firefly. Yeah, I think that'd keep me busy for awhile.
I've heard--from Mike & Joel, so I assume there's something to it--that MST3K might be making a return.
WTF! Lexx isn't on there? shame on you!
WOO! Only vote for weird science. But seriously, who wouldn't want a hot computer genie? Though I have wondered how she would fare with all the viruses and crap we deal with today.
I barely remember Misfits, except that I remember loving it.
I thought Buck Rogers was the better show, but I didn't love it as much in that irrational way.
The newer ones...not enough time has passed for my nostalgia to kick in. And Quantum Leap has essentially been remade a dozen times since, just with slightly different names and characters.
But what I really wanted was a 2nd season of the awesomely-awesome Invasion! Who's with me?
Nobody? Not a single person?
(I really did love that one season of Invasion....It got better and better as the season went along and was better than Lost that season. I miss it.)
it's not as if the story lines have to be terribly coherant. so what if the lexx died? so what if kai is alive? couldn't we do a "it was all just a dream" thing that negates the whole fire and water thing?
@nutbastard: Lexx was the first one I looked for on here. Problem was once they introduced the two worlds conflict it got crappy. Fast.
@SuperUnison:
Here, here. (About Firefly.)
Personally voted for Farscape, though, because honestly, they replaced it with TREMORS. And now Flash Gordon.
My alternate choice would be Space: Above and Beyond.
@Pisko:
WebMD offers free cybergynocological exams to low income robots.
@Pisko:
see comment above yours - my sentiments exactly.
Max Headroom
G vs E should be on the list.
I seriously don't get all the hoopla around Firefly. I voted for Sliders, but would rather see the old show Quark on this list.
It was a toss up between farscape and firefly. I chose farscape because they had very alien aliens.
i will gladly sell my left nut to extract the rest of the firefly episodes from Joss's pink brain and chug it down in glorious happiness.
*miss firefly* :(
...or Space: Above and Beyond
Firefly... why my good friend lent me the DVD collection, I had my doubts. But when I sat down to watch a random episode, not knowing any of the characters or anything, I was hooked. And yes, for the sake of the children, give Jayne his own spinoff.
I vote for either Far Out Space Nuts of the Lost Saucer. Oh, and Island of Doctor Shrinker to complete the trifecta!
Firefly was good, was it a bit overratted, maybe... but like Cowboy Bebop you could watch those shows going on forever.
SpaceAAB was nice at first but it got heady and weird FAST. I could have done without the whole conspiracy plotline.
Farscape was another that was gone before its time, but they wrapped it up good enough to make any future episodes not nearly as good.
MST3000 is back in spirit with both Mike and Joel having websites devoted to what they where doing on the show
And just ugh at those 80s shows (minus Quantum Leap) they where cool as a kid, but you look back at them now and UGH.
Babylon 5 ... One of my favorite shows ever!
I'd love to see some new Max Headroom too. Now that was a show that was ahead of its time.
Given the choices, I'll take more Firefly.
am i the only one who still fondly recalls sci fi's invisible man do-over? darien fawkes, bobby hobbes, the banter, the quicksilver madness? it was on pre-farscape for a while, and so clever they had to bring in a boobs mcgee at the end in the hopes of attracting a slobbering contingent, but only succeeded in infuriating the rest of us.
Duh I forgot Firefly...
(thats what I get for voting before the poll is up)
Also Futurama! Yes I know they have the new multipart DVD super episodes (or whatever they are), but we need NEW Futurama episodes on the air, come on BOX corporation.. bring them back..
Captain Simian and Space Monkeys.
@LadyMin: I second B5, though with a tighter storyline this time.
I'd also like to see Space 1999 revived, but perhaps with a less hokey premise and better effects.
@braak: Was that not the coolest cartoon? Died much too soon.
@braak: the who?
I have to go with Firefly, because it was unjustly short-lived. Forever, I don't know. But I trust that Joss Whedon is sitting on heaps of fantastic material that never did (and now probably won't) see the light of day.
However, I have always wondered what happened in Sliders' naked world. That's definitely one of my clearest memories of that show. I didn't vote that way because, well, we saw the directions it was going towards its end...
@braak: Oh wow - nicely recalled. That was definitely good fun, and yes, incredibly short lived. I had just enough time to get excited about it and then it went away.
@IntoAshes: What was the name... Jason of Star Command I think... perhaps I'm dating myself. Also Space Academy and The Ark. Ah, fond childhood memories.
These troubled times could use another decade of MST3K.
Rowsdower!
It's a little recent for this list, but "The 4400".
Firefly!
But what about 'Wonderfalls'? Can that be considered sci-fi?
@moncapitaine: I don't think so. Wonderfalls was very, very mystical.
@NefariousNewt:
Oh yes, The Ark... a fond saturday morning childhood memory comes flooding back.
What about Blake's 7, Quark or The Tomorrow People?
Vote for Buck. Buck doesn't suck. A major part of my formative years.
Unrelatedly, am I the only one who would also be psyched for a return of Otherworld?
@cybergrunt: All good choices, especially Blake's 7... rumor has it it may return from the dead, at least according to Wikipedia.
SG-1, you bastards!
Red Dwarf! (With Rob Grant this time, not Doug Naylor.)
FIREFLY...with sliders and SG1 tied for second
haha, I totally forgot about Earth 2
@tetracycloide: It was a cartoon in which Malcolm MacDowell voiced an evil cyborg monkey called Rhesus II who had an exposed brain that could leap out of his skull and attack people.
Every episode was a parody of a science fiction classic.
i was thinking Lost In Space
I voted for MST3K but I'm with Buick I wish we had gotten a second season of Invasion.
Or a second season of Surface.
ut we all know Firefly is going to win this poll. You know THOSE people are just nuts.
Not like the rest of us at all.
@braak: 'the who?' is a running gag from the show.
Though I love MST3K, it died a slow, painful death beginning when Joel left. I don't want it to come back and suffer any longer.
Gotta be Firefly. It died too young.
What about Battlestar Galactica? Oh, its back. Never mind.
@SuperUnison: I agree. Every time I tried to watch Firefly - and it was a number of times - I was bored out of my skull. Did not do anything for me. SO overrated.
Earth 2! It's got Clancy Brown, and Terr O'Quinn, so that's good enough for me. Some pretty good ideas thrown in as well.
I voted for Firefly (with apologies to those who think that's oh-soooooo-popular), but I wanted to make a special mention in support of Buck Rogers. Colonel Dearing was the first woman I ever had "those feelings" about. Oh, Erin Gray.
i second lost in space, but what about 'Damnation Alley?' a tv pilot if ever there was one.
Yet another vote for Firefly. But we have to pretend the movie never happened because I can't have my Firefly without Wash. And Book. AND GODS DAMMIT WE NEED ANSWERS ON BOOK.
/end rant
Space: Above and Beyond for certain.
