Hormones are the new recreational drugs, helping you maintain that zippy youthful feeling even into your 60s and letting you grow cool secondary sex characteristics your own hormones won't. For those reasons, estrogen is one of the hottest black market hormones. Menopausal women and transsexuals denied estrogen therapy by doctors are buying it from shady operators who make roll-your-own mixes of the hormone and don't warn about the side-effects of estrogen supplements (such as blood clots, stroke, and migraines). Now the FDA is pushing pharmacies to stop carrying the drugs, often called "bioidentical hormone replacement therapy," and trying to prevent Web sites from selling them. [PhysOrg]

mmmm... hormones!! ^_^
i can haz bewbs??
btw, isn't it dangerous to tank on estrogen without lowering the levels of testosterone? people who screw with hormones in the black markets without medical approval are just playing with their lives. when i used to work in a gym, i remember a ripped out guy crashed due to a fibrillating heart due to a testosterone overdose. i guess its just Darwin wards cleaning the gene pool.
Some physicians feel that estrogens by themselves would lower testosterone levels. So much of one will shut down production of the other. And yeah, its useful to have your levels monitored.
Not to mention that taking estrogen can increase your risk for a whole host of cancers...
What's the difference between a hormone and a vitamin?
This and more from "The Benny Hill Joke Book" right after these messages...
Who uses it as a recreational drug? As people use Codeine and such... I would imagine it takes some time for the effects.
huh, so that's what metroid prime's wife looks like
No transsexual who has done any research would use "bioidentical" hormones anyway. They don't work right for our needs; natural estrogen is the only way to go.
There are conflicting schools of thoughts on taking antiandrogens or t-blockers; there are some who don't think it's needed if you take high enough doses of estrogen, but most people still feel it's needed.
