Summer Glau got all tarted up and de-Terminatrixed for the premiere of Fox's upcoming Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and we hardly recognized her. We'll be talking to Summer on Sunday, so if you have anything you really want to know, tell us!
This autograph-signing star doesn't look anything like the quirky, psychic River Tam from the future in Firefly (who becomes the same girl turned into an ultra-weapon in Serenity), the schizophrenic Tess Doerner who tries to contact the future in The 4400, or the strangely emotional ultra-weapon of the future in the Terminator's trip to TV land.
io9 will be sitting down with Summer Glau just a few hours before her new show hits the airwaves, and while we have several questions up our sleeves, we'd also like to know what you'd want to know about this actress who seems to be making a career out of playing women who can seriously mess you up. Leave your questions in the comments, and check back to see what we were about to download from her brain.

Yes, actually, she does look like she could..
I want to know if she ever feels like the idea that the women that she plays are tough and dangerous only because of technological intervention by someone else is actually a little on the anti-feminist side.
That is, women are tough, but only if someone thinks to give them super-powers.
No, she looks like yet another Hellywood, vacuous, icon in the making.
My GOD I miss the gritty days of Terminator 2 and Aliens. It didn't matter how much makeup you had on, what mattered was how big your stones were. Male or female.
She's had some work done. Not for the better, either.
Isnt she in fact a ballerina? I am under the impression thats how she got the part for Angel that ended up with her getting the part for Firefly.
I would wonder if she misses professional dancing, or does she still work in troupes when she has the time?
Wow, she looks totally different than summer!
Wow. Some picky readers. You must have some supermodel wives/girlfriends.
I think she's really pretty.
@Falconfire: Yep, she was trained as a dancer in Texas. That's a good question about that though!
Who was more fun to act with? Jeffrey Combs or Nathan Fillion?
@EBone: No, she's purdy, all right. I won't deny that.
@picardia: Work done? not sure what you are talking about. when she worked on Firefly she was 20 years old. so she still looked like a teenager. now at 27 she looks like an adult.
FRANKENPC Starbuck (bsg) Zoe and River Tam (firefly) wore no make up.
QT: why is the toughness and strength of women (and men) in SciFi and Horror measured by the ability to commit violence?
What about the toughness and strength of Michelle Yeoh in Sunshine?
@annalee: good question
Mr. Kelly. I find the sexual double meaning in your headline to be both disgusting and mildly arousing. Seriously though, Summer is absolutely gorgeous. I wonder if she minds being typecast as the crazy but attractive wallflower who likes to slaughter and maim every once in a while and usually has a rugged man looking after her that she has to now protect. Wow, who knew that would be a typecast?
@Dybbuk: Yeoh kicks ass.
@braak: And Zoe was a tough fighter without any technology/mystical boost. And Glau's episode on Angel was quite cool.
She won my heart when I first saw her on Firefly, and she cemented that place in Serenity, in the bar, when she kicked everybody's butt.
@Dybbuk:
Personal preference. You know, subjective appreciation.
I'm old school, so I was raised on War Porn (cold war, war toys, war cartoons and TV shows). A tough, warrior like, woman is erotic to me.
You judge a woman as tough by her ability to commit violence because that is the same standard one uses to judge how tough men are.
I think I would let her...wait which one?
I have a question to ask her: "What writer/director did she enjoy working with the most?"... since she's currently employed, I'd say, "...in the past".
...and yes, she is pretty...and Zoe... As I recall, she was a ballerina until she broke her toe and enventually had to stop dancing on it all of the time. I may be wrong though.
I would like to ask Summer Glau how it was working with Joss Whedon, and how much did she know about how character's origins during the Firefly run and during the filming of Serenity. I understand that he (Joss Whedon) likes it when his actors have input into the characters that they play and would like to know what particular touches she brought to River.
Oh, and also, I'd like to know what attracted her to this new role in the Sarah Conner Chronicles. Hadn't heard she was in it until I saw a recent ad. Brava!
@aspiringexpatriate: That's true. Zoe's character in Firefly was one of the few female television characters that I like. It makes up for Gina Torres' role in Cleopatra 2525.
I hardly recognize George H.W. Bush ... Oh yeah, that's his son as president...
Im glad the girls getting some work because i doubt the serenity equal is coming out anytime soon.
Where has she been hiding those fantastic cheekbones?
@Eac_O_System: FORCED. You fail.
@FrankenPC: i understand im far from a tadpole myself. But i just think those roles are still with with us.
SPUDZILL you sure thats the only way to judge it?
Which head?
Okay, here's a serious question: I've seen various feminist critiques of the marketing campaign for the new show, saying that it's sexist because it depicts her as a limbless automaton. How f****ed up is that s***, yo?
my question: Most of her high profile work has been centered around sci fi. does she actively looks for participation in projects that have a scientific/ futuristic grounding, or has the industry slotted her as the actress who should only do the baby faced assassin in sci fi just because her breakout role was in Firefly.
also, despite my love for sci fi, when can we expect to see her in more mainstream fare?
finally, where does she expects to go from here in the next few years.
regards.
I'll be in my bunk... just kidding!
I'm just happy that she is doing well. In my heart she'll always be River.
She looks like I'd be willing to take the chance that she might rip my head off.
@braak:
River had no special physical powers to make her tougher. She was just psychic. I see the point you are trying to make... there is just no board to stick it in.
She is pretty and a good actor. Ask her if she likes to show up nude in all her character introductions.
She looks so different in real life...in a photo.
I hope the series rocks.
Rip my Head off? So what, she's so cute, I just have to hug her! ^_^
Am I the only one who liked Kaylee?
@sneggleblech: Not at all, I liked her when she was still Catalina ;D
@machete_bear: Space Cases huh?
Yeah, I looked it up.
