At last, a trailer is out for Doomsday, the non-zombie film starring a world-ravaging virus that results in Scotland being walled off. It looks like 28 Days Later meets 28 Weeks Later plus a serving of Mad Max on the side with a couple of dashes from the I Am Legend shaker. In other words, it starts out with a ton of promise and promptly devolves into something that leaves you feeling like you might throw up. Plus it begins with the Sparta-sounding "THIS. IS. OUR. CITY!" Check it out. 'Doomsday' Trailer Finally Online [Bloody Disgusting]

I don't know about throwing up. But it looks tediously familiar.
Yeah, a little derivative perhaps...but it's set in Scotland! I've never seen a movie like this set in Scotland!
(That being said, I'll see it.)
weee..madmax and escape from wherever.. ok, definite for the 2.00 theater..a few more breasties and its a go for the matinee...
Originality is overrated.
Snake Plisken has tits
@92BuickLeSabre: ZOOOOMMMBIEEESSS!!!!
(Freedom parody).
So, how is this different from the "normal" Scotland?
@filmsnack: More of the Haggis is made of people.
@RagingTowers:
Yeah, that struck me right away. This is Escape from New York.
It may be blatantly derivative, but so were Dog Soldiers and The Descent and they were still funny and entertaining in a relatively refreshing way. I'm confident Neil Jordan can make this more than worthwhile.
Plus, Bobo Hoskins! Hey Bobo!
I've never heard of this movie. Must be this big rock I've been living under.
If it's half as fun to watch as The Descent it'll be money well spent.
malcolm mcdowell must have the worst agent in the world. for every good tv show or movie hes in, hes in about 20 terrible ones.
also, the part with the car going into the city and the chick coming out of the car, very Aliens-ish. so it seems this film could be good simply because instead of trying to create an original story the writer/director simply took his favorite parts from every scary scifi film ever made and inserted them here.
its his version of a Be Kind Rewind sci fi film, if you will.
So much clashing movie Deja'vu -- I'm feel so disoriented I don't think I can stand up straight.
@sonofsanta: Sing us a song Mr 'Oskins
Heh... sometimes this "check your brain someplace at the end of the street" kinda pastiche can push all the right buttons though. Looks like popcorn-munchin' fun to me! :-)
Derivitave can be fun, if they don't take themselves to serious and the dialogue is at least a little clever.
This just looks like a typical Saturday night out in Glasgow...
@billybastion:
Very true indeed, but Malcolm Mcdowell did have a couple of classic roles in A Clockwork Orange and Caligula.
It's too bad there wasn't more imagination put into this movie, or maybe it just wasn't translated properly from the book, if there was one. Instead of totally ripping off old movies, there is so much more that could have been done with this concept. Why not have a modern day version of Braveheart, where the Scots once again rise up against overwhelming odds to invade southern England, now that would make for a good story.
2033? Is this like 28 Years later?
The trailer actually feels like it's clips form several different movies...
