Cloverfield opens this Friday, and if you're planning on seeing it in the theaters, make sure you stay planted after the credits roll. If you do, you'll be rewarded with a "Wink, wink. We'll be back!" moment. Basically the screen goes black and a walkie-talkie crackles to life and a voice says... something. None of us could figure out what they said, leading to speculation about a sequel, what the numbers actually mean on Lost, or maybe just a radio commercial for Slusho. If you see it this weekend, let us know what you think it was.

Someone did shadow puppets in front of the projection booth during the credits at my screening and got a burst of appluase?
But sound? Er, must've missed it. Also saw online reports of another "final" scene, but maybe I blacked out for that one, too.
we have deduced that it may or may not have been "help us"
the voice says, "WARGGHAHSSHBFREBSHJKBFLE."
it's so clear.
I think they cut my movie off early, never saw normal credits roll at the end. :(
spoilers much?
Mr.Spin sez: Rob and Beth survived, of course - but so did the monsters. Plural: All. Over. The Planet!
And don't miss the last shot - when the lovey dovey duo are on the Coney Island Ferris Wheel - what's what splashing into the ocean within frame?
Prediction for #2: Beth's Dad (with guy with the apartment in the Time Warner Building on Columbus Circle) is a billionaire and he hires a team to go in and get his little girl!!!
I haven't seen anything in this post that spoils anything.
Apparently something happens in the film's final scene (prior to the credits) that is very subtle. Out of a large group of people we were with, only one of saw it (my brother).
@geekgrrl: i'm pretty sure that should just be assumed, as we're talking about the credits of the film.
Correction, I hadn't seen any spoilers until Mr.Spin.
Spoilertastic. Turn back now to be unscathed.
If you play the clip backwards, you can clearly hear someone... maybe Rob say:
"It's still alive."
[boomp3.com]
"Help us".
Well, of course it's still alive. Duh!
And isn't that so-called last scene just part of the Coney Island footage?
I am so-o-o-o confused. I want clarity, goddammmit! Or maybe just some Claritin.
But playing something from the last scene of a movie backwards?!?
Does that mean that someone recorded the entire soundtrack and then listened to it backwards?
This is so sad on many levels. Please call 1-800-GET-A-LIFE immediately.
@geekgrrl: Is it really a spoiler to tell people to stay to hear something mysterious at the end of a movie? I wish I'd read this before I saw the flick, because I walked out before the end. So I consider this an anti-spoiler!
SPOILER TRASH HERE: (turn back Zeppelined!) Oh yeah, the Cloverfield monster? Sure looks like a really big Rancor (with bigger arms and tail) from a certain galaxy far far away to me and mine!
@Mr.Spin:
it looked like a dancing vagina in the .gif earlier today.
omg. cloverfield=the true ending of Teeth.
yeah i also caught something in that last scene. it you watch the right side of the screen you'll see something splash into the water and at the distance it was pretty good size splash.
@Annalee: To tell someone to stay? No. To say what it /is/? YES.
I've deciphered the walkie-talkie! It says this:
"Eac is right! The monster's lame! You've just waisted you're time!"
@Annalee: Telling people to stay behind after the credits isn't a spoiler, no. Telling people what happens if they stay behind anyway is.
I think it's a no brainer that if you don't want Cloverfield "spoiled" for you, then don't click on any headlines in blogs about Cloverfield.
Better yet, stay off the Web until you go see the movie, which is already in theaters now.
@bonniegrrl: This is true. But the spoiler isn't after the break, it's on the front page.
Personally I don't care about spoilers for it, not that much, but in the interest of being accurate - this site isn't living up to it's full potential in a lot of areas, common sense about spoilers being one of them.
That's my opinion - the pink penguin has spoken!
I stayed through the credits and saw and heard nothing. Of course the alarm system went off twice during the showing so I'm not surprised if they screwed up the ending too.
More on the whisper here:
(don't click if you're twitchy about spoilers)
Here is a link to the whisper at the end of the credits

@PRIORMARCUS: Well like I said before, if you don't want to be spoiled by the movie everyone's been talking about all week, you should probably avoid the Web, especially sci-fi sites (like this one) and movie gossip sites in general. We're all savvy enough online to know that spoilers will be on sites like this. Heck, even NY Times and EW had spoilers this week in their reviews.
I posted a video on youtube for anyone who wants to see. Spoiler: [www.youtube.com]
@rrich: Somebody did that at the screening I saw tonight as well!!!
*SPOILERS*
was it just me or where there tow monsters in new york?
the one in the begining had a sot of "snapping turtle" pointy face more in line with the smaller creatures.
the thing in the end had a rounder head and these sort of "cheek bubble" things . i think the one at the end was also smaller.
great, now my planned second viewing has been spoiled. thanks A LOT
And here I thought the after-credit extras fad had died off.
Heard it, couldn't make out anything intelligible because my eardrums had been effectively blasted by the end credits music. They cranked that mutha to 11!
Spoiler Alert!
ANTIMATTY, I share the same thought as you. It seemed like the monster that hit the Brooklyn Bridge was different than the weird bat/pony looking gigantor mutant running amok through Manhattan. What came across the bridge looked like a tentacle, not one of those arms. And it does explain the comment in one of the earlier io9 posts where the director said the monster was a child, suffering from separation anxiety from its parent.
Hot damn, Cloverfield 2!
@bonniegrrl: Bonniegrrl, FTW.
@antimatty: Yeah, I think you're right. We debated that for a long time afterwards.
Yeah, well that kind of conflicts with the vial site [www.1-18-08.com] which gives you a different ending.
you know what? I'm glad they didn't play that in my theater. It probably wouldv've just mad me more pissed
