Fashion designer John Galliano brought another batch of his Mad Max-inspired fashion to the Ready-To-Wear show in Paris today. You have the bloody chiseled bodies, the bizarre headgear and the decorative nooses. Maybe fetishizing the collapse of civilization is one step towards making peace with it? Or maybe it's just a weird run-off from our current end-of-days obsession. Either way, enjoy our gallery of buff men in survivalist rags.

I am having a serious case of WTF.
"Ready-to-wear."
How often is the heinously expensive overpriced shit on the "ready-to-wear" runway actually stocked in stores, bought, and worn by people outside the fashion industry?
@Annalee: Seriously. It's like Galliano had a Faces of Death marathon before he created this.
I like it.
pret-a-puke!
I love the drama of Galliano. Seeing that makes me wish it was end of days so I could dress like that.
I thought the whole point of a runway model was to highlight the garment, not overshadow it?
Maybe this says more about the actual clothes and their designer?
Unrestrained insanity. I love it, especially leather mask 'n scar guy.
#7 has a Cybermen Helmet from Dr. Who oh his head.
More like "Ready-to-GWAR" fashion.
butterscotch!
pagoda!
mittens!
Whee! I love Galliano. He brings ze crazee every time.
"Let me show you Derelicte. It is a fashion, a way of life inspired by the very homeless, the vagrants, the crack whores that make this wonderful city so unique."
I hardcore love it. Wouldn't wear it but it's cool to look at.
Most of those pics are from his show last year.
@Skeller: Yeah, you're right. Sorry, I meant to label them accordingly but I ran out of time. All the ones that say "from style.com" are from the spring 2007 show. The others are from today.
Love.
Golly, they're right. After just 6 hours in a make-up chair, I'm ready-to-go. Sure, it gets chilly, but on the up side, you should see how fast they hand over the cash when I go to my bank, or the coffee shop (and I just asked for a doughnut), or when I walk down the sidewalk...starting to resent all the attention from those guys in the leather and studs though.
Didn't Duran Duran do this already in "Lost Boys", like 20 years ago? And do it better?
Galliano is all about the show and less about the clothes. But I like the samurai/cybermen inspired pieces.
genius.
Not as avant-garde as Derelict IMO.
Clearly, the future will not be fought by the leather-clad hooligans over precious and scarce petroleum, but over precious and scarce pants. While other clothes will be grody and degraded by the vicious onslaught of time and harsh outback weather, banana hammocks will remain in pristine condition due to their superior rugged construction. Bonus points for the fancy (by post-apocalyptic standards) Cyberman hat, grotty desert pirates.
Does the bloody gash come with the jacket or do you have to buy it separately?
I think he watched Ned Kelly a few too many times.
@bonniegrrl: I hear that.
Does anyone else feel the need to pop The Warriors into their DVD player right now?
There was an old SF story about hipsters going to watch the zombies dance at their local hipster spot.. Really unimaginable irony in 1960.
@bonniegrrl: Awesome.
If that's the ready-to-wear line, I can't even imagine what the haute line must have looked like.
But if it means I'll be able to buy those awesome helmets at a boutique in SoHo I'm all for it.
Apparently the future will be stocked full of Diamond Dogs and leather butt-boys ala Wes's "bitch" in ROAD WARRIOR.
Maybe like Metalocalypse the leather is made from the skin of runway models.
Is the post-apocalyptic jester botox'd or just really, really Nordic? Or do the wires in his hair hold up the cheeks in a world after botox? How... stringent.
Flagellants: so hot right now.
I see someone else enjoyed McCarthy's "The Road."
Well, you know what they say: "If you can't dazzle them with your brilliance...baffle them with your bullshit."
