What's behind the Sci Fi Channel's decision to schedule two half-hour documentaries about Battlestar Galactica: WGA-strike-inspired desperation, or self-congratulatory wankfest? You be the judge. Click through for details, and hints as to whether either show might be worth bothering with.
Battlestar Galactica: Revisited is pretty much a clip show to bring new viewers up to speed before the following weekend's launch of the show's fourth season. The accompanying Battlestar Galactica: The Phenomenon explores just how well loved the series has been by fans and critics, just to make the channel feel a little better about itself. The shows start at 10pm on Friday, March 28th; the show returns properly on April 4th, also at 10pm. Image by Getty Images. Holy mother of god...I didn't realize BSG was coming back so soon! AHHH!!! I'm going to tear down my PVR and clean it with Q-tips! There can be no recording failures!!!
Anyway, I couldn't care less about a documentary. The less I know about what the real world actors are like, the better the illusion. IRL, actors are such a let down.
Hm. Not bothering. A recap show is at least useful, but when they plan to cancel a series, why would they put on a docu/program about how loved it is?
They did the same thing with Farscape and it was just annoying. "See how much this show is loved worldwide? Yeah... we're not renewing it."
I'll watch the first one to refresh my memory. The second one I can pass on, because NOTHING... and I mean NOTHING tops Trekkies when it comes to entertainment based on "extreme fandom".
"WGA-strike-inspired desperation, or self-congratulatory wankfest?"
can't it be both? hey look, they're replaying earlier footage.
Why is Lucy Lawless kissing that pole?
@Capn_Marrrrk: 'cause she can, bless her heart...
if they really want to celebrate the wonderfulness that is BSG, why don't the networks stop being jerks and sign a fair deal with the writers that made the show that makes them all that cashola??
I think it's more a case of "We're REALLY sorry it takes us anywhere from 12 to 18 months to produce a paltry 10-13 episodes. Please don't lose interest in our second-highest rated show after Wrestling."
At least they're marketing it.
I think its more a case of GREED. ON everyones part
All that matters to me is that it's got to be more entertaining than another "Ghost Hunters" marathon or wrestling.
Count on these being "extras" on an upcoming DVD.....
I think that wrestling on SC FI is closer to FANTASY than Science Fiction.
