The CGI movie of Astro Boy has run into trouble: director Colin Brady has abandoned the project, in favor of The Smurfs movie. In his place, Imagi Studios has hired David Bowers (Flushed Away). Imagi's previous project was last year's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot. Warner Bros. and the Weinstein Co. are still hoping to distribute Astro Boy in 2009. i'm not sure how i feel about someone who's primary money maker is talking animals in average children's movies directing astro boy. although i did really love the 'an american tail' series when i was a kid.
Man I'm AGAINST a CGI Astro Boy movie. Stick with traditional animation.
Just skip to the part where his hand is flattened into a tray and he retires to open a restaurant chain.

Whaa?! What kind of person would abandon their directorial duty for an Astro Boy movie for the F@#king Smurfs?
@Guitaratomik
Exactly the kind of person who should never have anything to do with an Astro Boy movie.
Elevator talk at work has Disney backing the Smurfs movie, but it is far from a done deal...
Way to lose street cred.
"Fuck you Astroboy! I'd rather do The Smurfs!"
And if you shouted that in the street, you'd have ZERO street cred.
but remember that episode where there were 2 Jokey Smurfs and one was an evil twin???
the only thing I can think of is that Mighty Atom's turd would probably give the little blue gnomes a interesting case of pink skinned leukemia.
But on the on the other smurf, those smurfing smurfers could smurf the surmf out of Surmfer Boy.
