Nothing like holding a fashion show in a toxic industrial park at the edge of the Tietê, one of the most polluted rivers in Brazil. Last week was fashion week in São Paulo, Brazil, and designer Cavalera decided to show off his retro-grunge peasant looks in a place that looks like an industrial dystopia. We've got a gallery of images from one of the strangest fashion shows we've ever seen — past or future.

Was the fashion style called "Derilique"?
Nothing personal, but it was fashion week in São Paulo (which Tietê runs through). Saying it was fashion week in Brazil is kind of misleading, since Rio de Janeiro has a different fashion week, and you know... Brazil's a big and diverse place.
Anyway, definitely appropriate stuff for io9! I work for a film festival in SP, and so many of the filmmakers who come from abroad say the city reminds them of Blade Runner.
Fixed the reference to São Paulo -- thanks!
Where Tietê river starts, the water is pure and clear... you can even drink it [www.grupocaipora.com.br]
Then, it goes inside the city and pretty much becomes an open cesspool.

After it leaves the city, at the place it ends, it's basically clean again...
And to think it was once like this [www.cdcc.sc.usp.br] ...
