Stephanie Brown took over as Robin for a short while in the Batman comics, and later died. But Bruce Wayne never saw fit to give her a memorial case in the Batcave, like the ones for other past Robins... until now. A dream sequence in a recent Grant Morrison-penned Bat-comic shows Stephanie's costume alongside the other previous Robins. Now if only Bats gets around to making that dream a reality... GRANT MORRISON I LOVE YOU!!! That is all.
@Annalee: Grant Morrison is the most awesomely insane comic book writer that there is. It's great to know that I can just pick up any one of his books, and be gauranteed some wild, maniacal romp through fields of lunacy.
It's neat that writers are listening to the "women in refrigerators" concerns out there.
I frown on comics that make Batman a weepy, Werther-style sentimentalist. That sort of pussiness is for all the other superheroes, who aren't crazy obsessed monomaniacs. I want my Batman pure.
The just keep making him cry when they need to up circulation. Soon they're just going to partner Batman up with 3 of the red-shirted star trek security officers for each issue...
joker: "say goodbye to enseign ricky!"
batman: "noooooo! when do I die!" *punch*
two-face: "say goodbye to enseign marco!"
batman: "nooooo! when do I die!" *punch*
penguin: "say goodbye to enseign josie!"
batman: "nooooooooooooooo!"
-stay tuned for the next exciting issue of Grant Morrison's thrilling "Weepy Tears of a Loving Batman". Collect all 9 issues. Watch all 27 enseigns die horribly! Batman cries constantly!
@Pope John Peeps II: So it sounds like you're saying that Hilary learned to cry from Batman? You know, to up her circulation?
@Annalee: Yes. I would say that was 100 percent true, and verifiable by science.
@Pope John Peeps II: I totally want a Batman comic where everybody dies every issue, except Batman. And after 100 issues, it turns out that Batman is really Captain Jack, and he can't die.
Fly Robins fly...
up up to the sky...
Grant Morrison is the only truly great Batman writer out there. They should have called it "BATMAN and the JLA" when he was writing JLA.
@Pope John Peeps II: oh, I dunno; isn't the fact that Batman is capable of compassion & crippled by guilt sorta what makes him not a fascistic monster? which is to say, makes him a character that I would not cringe buying a toy or comic of for a niece or nephew?
Here I thought he didn't have a memorial for her because he didn't want to jump her bones.....
...cause, you know, she was a girl....
I told y'all so... why come y'all don't listen?
Heads up: Steph didn't get a memorial because TPTB can't decide if she's gonna stay dead.
Gee, wouldn't you think it would have occurred to Bats by now, looking at all those Robin suits, that having Robin's is quite a bad idea? It's like Spinal Tap and drummers...
Only one Robin actually died, though. Stephanie was fired from her job as Robin and started calling herself Spoiler. Speaking of, around Christmas, DiDio was putting a wishlist in the back of the books and Tim Drake's wish was for "a memorial for Stephanie". This one was crossed out with, "no can do" written above it, so CJMCBG is totally right.
On the Morrison tip, I enjoy what he's doing, but I rarely actually know what the hell is going on.
batman is hot.-blurey
@ashadowcastinred: Hell, if Jason Fcuking Todd can come back from the dead....
@ashadowcastinred: I've seen three different robins die as robins. Just cause they won't stay dead doesn't mean they didn't die and mess with batsy's head.
