Here's a gem we grabbed at the X-Files movie panel at WonderCon yesterday, thanks to intrepid videographer Roger Chang. A fan asks the panel if there are any stories they wish they'd had a chance to explore in X-Files. After David Duchovny hems and haws about how the new movie is sort of exploring Picture of Dorian Gray, Gillian Anderson lets this one drop: "I always thought Mulder should have explored autoerotic asphyxiation. That'll be XF3." Watch as Duchovny and show creator Chris Carter try to bring the conversation back on track.

She's freakin gorgeous man. Good to have everyone back together again.
Is it just me or does Gillian Anderson still seem bitter about Duchovney's talent and success?
I think her talent is bigger than his! What's he done? Red Shoe Diaries? She's been in actory indies like House of Mirth and The Last King of Scotland.
Yeah, he might be a bigger "star", but she's generally regarded as the much more accomplished "actor".
I'm just all fangirl giddy at the prospect of Mulder and Scully again. They're so purty.
Didn't Clyde Bruckman say that Mulder was going to die from autoerotic asphyxiation? So she was actually referencing an old episode, how cool.
Tristram Shandy - A Cock and Bull Story... only a small part but the funniest film I've seen in ages. Sorry but David has nothing on Gillian
OK, how is it Gillian just gets hotter with age?
This is a reference to an old episode of the X-Files, not something she said completely out of the blue. Still funny, though, and still sounds like a totally in-character way for Mulder to go out.
@Daniel Wallace: You can actually hear Duchovny pointing out, "But that's how he's supposed to die," so at least he got it. :)
I always thought Clyde Bruckman was just fucking with Mulder. After all, autoerotic asphyxiation was how Clyde died, certainly he was able to see his own death, and Mulder really seemed to be getting on his nerves with all the questions about fortunes and such. Seemed like Clyde just wanted to shock Mulder into shutting up, which kinda worked.
Now, his fortune about Scully never dying? That's worth looking into. He seemed sincere about that one. Of course, with Gillian Anderson apparently not aging in real life, they might just pull that "never dying" storyline off yet!
wow, she looks great. i can't wait to see them on the big screen!
no no no. clyde bruckman died of autoerotic asphyxiation himself. he said the psychic-killer-guy would kill mulder, and he almost did.
Wow, she looks amazing. I never thought she was all that attractive in the show but now... wow.
I think she had her nose done.
She was definately not this good-looking back in the day.
Also I think I always liked Duchovny better cause he had a sense of humor.
Who knew Gillian Anderson had a sharp wit too?
She was always hot, but got hotter as the show progressed. She's even hotter now. Her face looks a little leaner and the long hair definitely adds something.
Love. Her.
Always have.
Yeah, it's amazing how hot people get when they're not in mid-90s shoulder pads and big helmet hair.
Clyde Bruckman died of autoerotic asphyxiation? I don't seem to remember that. I remember he had some plastic over his head (so I guess he suffocated himself), but I don't remember any implied eroticism with the situation.
Also as someone pointed out above, Scully doesn't die, which I thought was explored further with the immortal death-picture-taking guy, and him transferring his immortality to Scully when he finally died. Do I remember that correctly?
It's been a few years since I watched all this stuff. My friend is currently on a "watch all seasons" kick, and continually complains about how awful the final seasons are to get through.
Alright, I'll defend Duchovny. Apparently none of you has seen his work in Californication. If you need a guy to really sell snorting a rail off a hooker's ass, he's your man.
Gillian has always been hot. During her time on the Xfiles she was simply the sexiest woman on TV.
I had the privilege of speaking to her once when the show was still filmed here (Vancouver). This was before season one was even on the air and nobody had any idea what show these people were filming. They were filming an episode near a school behind my condo. The cast and crew were all very pleasant and spoke to people that talked to them.. I guess at the time they were still hoping that people would like them.
@Whyaduck: Agreed.
@mattclary: Seriously. I don't find her particularly attractive in the early seasons, but as the show went on, she just became a knockout. And now? Impressive.
@mattclary: It's true. She looks so much hotter than she did back in the day when X-Files was on TV. Honestly, had she been this hot then, I might have forced myself to actually become a fan instead of a snarky bystander who made fun of my family for watching bad TV scifi.
@Idolwild: For a network TV show that couldn't even begin to show autoerotic asphyxiation, I always thought his death (which was both "auto" and "asphyxiation") was close enough to imply that autoerotic asphyxiation had taken place. Yes, Peter Boyle's wang remained (thankfully) out of sight, but some of us felt we had caught an allusion to previous dialog that could never be fully actualized during prime time.
haahh WOW! didnt even realize that was her. other than remove the freckles i have no idea what cosmetic surgery she had done...all i know is that i'm-a-liking it!
Hey - give credit where credit is due. Duchovney is awesome in the Pedigree commercials!
Hmm. I missed all that about Clyde Bruckman. I thought he just died with a bag over his head. I thought the autoerotic asphyxiation bit was always for Mulder. There was nothing erotic about Bruckman's death. Hmm…I always thought the show could have proved amusing if Mulder did bow out that way and Bruce Campbell stepped in. Might have made seasons 8 & 9 watchable with a nice campy edge to it. :P
Scully's immortal bit..hmm…now I think I need to rewatch the ep with the photographer. I'm rusty on that one. I do remember Bruckman saying she doesn't die though.
Man, seeing this only makes me realize just how much I miss this show. I can't wait for the movie! :)
