Something strange is going on . . . the soundtrack to the original Terminator trailer perfectly fits the new Wall-E trailer. Coincidence? We think not. We've synced up the two trailers so you can judge for yourself whether Wall-E is secretly making reference to Terminator. Could our cute little robo-buddy have more in common with Arnie's merciless killing machine than you ever realized? Watch our mash-up of the two movies' trailers, and decide for yourself.

Based on all the ennui and guilt talk from yesterday, I thought it was based on something by Camus.
Wall E vs. Daleks!
EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!
Is it just me or does this think look way too much like Johnny Five
@Midwesterner in NYC: this THING look too much like Johnny Five
@Midwesterner in NYC:
WALL E doesn't talk much though. That's a huge benefit.
I thought he looked more like a robo-ET.
How can you go wrong with a ET/Johnny 5 combo?!?! Now that is one buddy cop movie i would love to see.
"Come with me if you want to compact garbage."
I can't wait for Wall-E. Even Pixar's worst film (CARS) was entertaining and very pretty. This looks to be up there with their best stuff.
And as for what it most reminds me of: The moon robot from Wallace and Gromit: Grand Day Out.
I like how when it stated "The Terminator" for the first time it showed the scene where Wall*E was putting the bra on. Epic.
"perfectly fits"? I dunno...
@BBanzai: Hahaha hey you gotta admit those explosions fit pretty well!
Just the fact that this movie syncs with something makes me want to see it. Like Nightmare Before Christmas and Aenima, and Dark Side of Oz before that, this movie has potential to be really great.
@BBanzai: The point is, they're both unstoppable machines from a bleak post-human future.
The future is so weird... I mean, remember when you used to be able to click on one of those @name links and find out what the prior comment was? That was so cool...
Ah, well. Dystopia.
What are you gonna do?
@BBanzai: i gotta agree. it does fit but i wouldn't say perfectly. I am not saying it to discredit who ever spent the time to do it. I am just saying in my opinion it wasnt as good as the Smash Bros/300 vid.
@JennaW: I miss those @names links things
Did you ever notice movie trailers often steal the theme music of another movie? What's particullarly strange is usually the movie has its own pretty distinctive score, they just don't want to let you hear it until the release of the film. Brahm Stoker's Dracula seems to be a popular choice.
These two trailers don't match at all. you have no talent.
@snaboobaly: Have you ever watched the Wizard of Oz with Dark Side of the Moon playing? If you did, you'd understand that these two MATCH. Especially if you take some drugs. That's key.
I dont think the terminator / wall-e thing holds up to scrutiny. But I am going to get reaaaally high and watch wall-e in the theater.
@Annalee Newitz: while i wont say the person who did this has no talent i will say this is not darkside of Oz caliber. And Darkside matches even with out drugs. Third lion roar on vhs version of wizard and the original darkside cd (no rerelease). I havent tried it with a dvd or any other version of the album but i know the way i described works.
@EDread83: Um yeah.
I believe this is called a "reach".
Don't you mean a reach-around?
@Annalee Newitz: Dark Side and Oz? meh. try the more sci-fi version... Echoes and 2001.[video.google.com]
fantastic way to waste half an hour.
+ Watch video
This is the only man who may destroy the future.
@choinski:
That's because when the trailer comes out, the musical score usually isn't finalized.
@smokyburnout: never knew those lined up too. nice.
i'm not sure if i'm going to be able to handle wall-e. between its big eyes and sad state of affairs, this movie seems like it could be a real tear jerker.
Hmm, the trailer does seem to match up, but only when held up to a mirror. Wall-e's reactions always seem to be the opposite of what the sound from the Terminator trailer depicts.
I have to wonder what the reverse is like, Terminator with Wall-e sound.
@Midwesterner in NYC: more like Johnny 2.5...he is a bit short
@Killa_Charlie: LOL, I laughed at the bra bit too.
Although, if our future is in Wall-E's hands, I'd say we're doomed. But in a cute way. =)
anything to keep people reading your site, i09 must be really desperate, what next? LOOK THE ALIENS TRAILER FITS WITH JUMPER!!!!!!!!!!!!1111
