If you haven't seen John Carpenter's classic The Thing, which shows you just how scary a remote Antarctic ice station can be when a parasitic alien thaws out, you should. If you have seen it, then you'll recognize this sucker designed by FX whiz Rob Bottin. Remember when Kurt Russell starts testing everyone's blood to see if they've become infected and have shapeshifted into an alien? Well, this is what pops out of the petri dish in one of those "shit your pants" screen moments, and it can be yours for the semi-outrageous opening bid of $3,499.00. Although there's no certificate of authenticity, there is a very nice glass case, which might explain the upcharge. If it were made out of diamond. [Ain't It Cool]

Speaking of alien parasites and blood, anyone remember the movie Ginger Snaps 3? Where they would test if you were bitten by a werewolf or not by sticking a leech on you, and if you were bitten, the leech becomes monstrously huge in 0-60 proportions?

JC's The Thing contains one of the greatest lines of any scifi movie I can think of.

this is from memory so it might not be exactly correct, but:
Right after a husky explodes into a mass of what looks like wriggling round worms, the dog handler who witnessed this, runs out of the kennels understandably paniced by what he saw.

He is stopped in the hall by another guy who asks "what is it?"

The dog handler replies: "I don't know, but its weird and its pissed off!"

I saw this in the theater as a kid and man it messed me up. For a long time, it was fear on film for me. Fuck that scene with the defibrillator. Fuck it right in the arse.
