That long-rumored Tron sequel is finally coming in 2011... and it'll be in 3-D. Joseph Kosinski, who's done a lot of ads including the cuteHalo 3: Starry Night, will direct. And maybe a 3-D version of the 80s video-game movie will keep the whole thing from looking quite so dated. [SciFi Scanner]

Ugh. I love TRON, but I really hope they don't go all gimmicky with the 3d, as it will invariably ruin it (Spy Kids, anyone?).
Yeah, but Spy Kids was made for, well, kids. Hopefully, the new Tron won't be... anyone know the rating they're aiming for?
I'm hoping for at least PG13.
@beelzebuddha: I can count the number of PG13 movies I enjoyed on one hand. I'm hoping for PG or R
A friend of mine was working on the script for the Tron 2 project about 18 months ago, but I think it got deep-sixed. My impression of the direction the producers wanted to go wasn't great; the over-use of hackneyed, circa-1997 phrases such as "cyberspace" were all over the treatment at the behest of said producers. Hope for the best, kiddies, but expect the worst.
I can't believe the concern is for graphics. That's the one part they should get right. My concern is for the update they give to the hokey plot of programs and their users, Ram, master control, de-rezing, and the I/O tower. You don't think this is getting written without social networks, YouTube, and iPods in the lamest plot ever conceived, do you?
WIN! I look forward to learning more about this, and, of course, eventually seeing it.
Spy Kids was also Robert Rodriguez, who while he makes fun movies, seems to want to make them as fast as possible. I just hope they keep the style and the look.
Who's the villain? RIAA?
I've got a bad feeling about this.
i look forward to this.
OH HELL YES!!!
Some much awesomeness in 1 movie, when it first came out and now.
When I saw this movie as a kid I loved the scenes in Flynn's arcade, seeing all the cool games he had.
Now those scenes are still great nostalgia.
Really looking forward to the sequel!!!
Would Tron make a great TV show too? Maybe? If it were done right? Maybe by the Battlestar Galactica team could do it!!!!
lets hope they dont ruin it with talking animals or something like that
I now have the urge to play Tron 2.0 again.
I have the urge to play Tron 2.0 again.
All I have to say is YAY!
Remember kids: A beam of energy can always be diverted.
