In some alternate universe, Saul Bass really did do the opening titles for a 1950s version of Star Wars, and it probably starred Cary Grant as Han Solo. In this universe, however, the best we have to deal with is this student project imagining just what Bass would've done with the movie. Star Wars vs. Saul Bass [YouTube.com]

star bebop?
All that awesome work, and you throw Max Rebo in there?
(God, what's wrong with me.)
He forgot: Møøse trained by YUTTE HERMSGERVØRDENBRØTBØRDA
That's a pretty harsh indictment of Guinness' acting. He did more than stare.
I love Saul Bass credit sequences, so that was just awesome!
That seriously cheered me up.
@zenpoet: Moose bite are pretty nasty, you know.
@Frozen-Tex: Yeah, one got my sister.
Awesome
The rest of the comments are being redone at the last minute and at great expense by a sub-contractor from Bolivia.
@92BuickLeSabre: My immediate thought. Um WRONG MOVIE!!! Helloooo! IS there anyone in there!?
Still, pretty amazing concept and execution.
This would only work with James Coburn as Han Solo, Don Adams as Luke Skywalker and Barbara Feldon as Leia. Oh and don't forget Charles Bronson as Darth Vader.
@Pham Nuwen:
Don Adams/Skywalker (whilst fighting the training drone blindfolded):"Missed, by that much... would you believe... THAT much?"
Charles Bronson? "Aren't you a little short for an Evil Lord of the Sith?"
I think that font is called "Hitchcock"
Peter Sellers as C3PO - Humphrey Bogart as Moff Tarkin - Sidney Greenstreet as Jabba the Hutt
Give me one good reason wh "Feminica" should not be in pre-pro right now!
It's so, so... Cugat!!
This kid has a promising future. At least in the Saul Bass homage industry. I would have chosen Mingus or Clifford Brown Sr. over Buddy Rich. And...
No I take it back-- even with Max Rebo it was perfect -- you seriously made my day.
Can we convince this person to produce some more, please? How's about "Blade Runner" or the credits to
the Gary Seven series on Earth YH34-83457?
@BlacklistedJoe: you forgot the y
I love it, and I love the video response, Star Wars - Saul Bass ... Remastered!
I think that should actually run before the regular opening of Star Wars so that the hollywood types will quit complaining and threatening fines for the credits being at the end of the movie... lol
Freakin' great.
Credit for Music should read "Johnny Williams"
Nice!
OK. That was cool and all, but where the fu*k was Greedo??!!??
Sweet.
absolutely tremendous.
@zeppelined:
Heh. Yes. SPELLING is important, even if it is a student film. Sheesh.
