It looks like we'll get a quasi-remake of Quark, the sitcom about an intrepid starship crew, this fall on Fox. The network greenlit Boldly Going Nowhere, a new comedy from the creators of It's Always Sunny In Philadephia, which deals with the mundane lives of a starship crew. Says one of the creators, "We grew up watching shows like Star Trek, anything having to do with the future, and it was always about the adventures they'd go on. We thought it would be funny to watch what goes on in between those adventures, when they're waiting for the next big thing to happen."

Anything from these guys is welcome. They have a keen grasp on the mundane so I bet they'll do this right.
I hope it has a Brewster Rockit quality to it. Could be fun!
Jean-Gene, the Bettys, Ficus and Cmdr. Quark! Nice to hear that my favorite space sanitation crew will fly again.
Hope it's as good as the original.
"The Galaxy, Ad infinitum!"
Man, I loved Quark. Of course, I was about 10 years old, so, that should tell you something.
"Now, we wait for the bee."
I. Loved. Quark. FOX'll scew this up royally, Gonna watch "Dark Star" instead.
I loved Quark, too. Mom and I used to giggle mightily.
This would probably be better on FX rather than Fox, though.
One hopes everyone's learned a lesson from "Homeboys In Outer Space".
Yeah, this isn't saying they're remaking quark, is it? It's saying Fox is gonna have Sunny guys make a sitcom similar to quark, no?
Honestly, I couldn't stand Quark. I was too young to appreciate the wardrobe, and there wasn't much else there. Hopefully, these guys are well-versed on Red Dwarf.
sounds like every single Holodeck episode of star trek.
I saw a couple of episodes of Quark. That was really bad - WITH DISCO!
still trying to forget.. you might as well bring back Supertrain.
+ Watch video
Sounds like Red Dwarf, only lame.
What, like the BBC's Hyperdrive? :)
These guys rock. Ergo, anything that comes within 500 yards of them will rock.
Wasn't the time in between kind of part of the point of Serenity (I liked the lack of a lightspeed drive.)
I guess they'll be playing this for overt laughter, and it's on Fox, so it'll probably just suck in a Married With Children kind of way.
I really hope it can be a North American Red Dwarf. Also I hope Fox gives it a chance to find an audience - something they dont often do.
My first thought was also that it sounded more like Hyperdrive than Quark.
@Jamesema: There was a pilot for a North American Red Dwarf. It actually broke the suckmeter in it's neutronium weight of shittyness.
I guess I'm imagining something like "The Office" in space.
Remember kids, FOX has cleared out its entire 4th floor (dev) and is starting fresh with Kevin from NBC. They are finally starting to "get it". Basically, the FX guys are now running FOX. BTW, the Fringe pilot is looking INSANE...
@victheremin: I think to have an appreciation for this concept you need to realize that It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia had two strengths: it showed terrible people constantly getting their comeuppance, and it took archetypes of urban life and constantly explored what type of decisions you'd have to make to end up in those positions.
Both aspects would be a welcome change in sci-fi, but I wouldn't picture it as being as static as the Office or even Red Dwarf. I see it more as being "Grifters in Space" or whatnot.
I always thought that Space Quest 4 : Roger Wilco should have been made into some sort of tv series. That game was hilarious.
