Collin Chou, who played the Seraph in the Wachowski's Matrix trilogy, has confirmed that he'll be starring in a fantastical ninja movie to be produced by the Wachowskis. He couldn't say much about it, but did admit it would have fantasy elements and that production is set to start next month. Korean pop singer Rain, who most recently played a cyborg in I'm a Cyborg But That's OK, will also be in the flick, rumored to be called Ninja Assassin. [Sci Fi Wire]

Is Rain the one from that South Park Episode? Also, Ninjas make everything better.
Oh, yay! Now maybe everyone will start loving the Wachowskis again.
@B: i think you're thinking of Wing.
@CMG's Evil Twin: unless I missed an ep.
@B: I can't tell you how giddy I was in The Last Samurai when I realized that there was about to be a Ninja vs. Samurai fight. I had been waiting for a good one of those for years.
The word "fantastical" makes me nervous. Ninjas are already pretty awesome, they don't need the power of flight or the ability to walk on sword points to be cooler.
@CMG's Evil Twin: Did you know Wing was on a episode of South Park?
@extracrispy: Never stopped.
@Garrison Dean: Oh c'mon, you don't like the flying? That's the best part!
@Git Em SteveDave: um, yes. see above comment.
@Garrison Dean: Me neither. But they get a lotta hate around these parts. Sometimes I feel like the only person who likes Matrix 2 and 3.
Ninja + Assasin = Redundant
But Awesome!
@Annalee Newitz: I like it tons. I love the last 2 matrix movies despite what others think. However, I'm growing tired of the wire work I have to say. There was a trailer for the new Jet Li, Jackie Chan movie called "Thank God for White People" that is the nail in Yeun Woo-Ping's coffin.
There was that one Christopher Lambert movie that was pretty sweet, but what else recently with ninjas. I want some old school ninja star, face mask, spikes on hands for climbing, smoke bomb throwing ninja styles. And I want it taken seriously. If they are after the golden lotus blossom that grants a 1000 year dragon life or some shit like that I'll be suspect. I want them doing what ninjas do best. Killin'. But with a name like Ninja Assasin we'll get that.
Oh and why do almost all Ninja movies have to have the word Ninja in the title.
@CMG's Evil Twin: Sorry, it's a joke/callback from a podcast I listen to, Distorted View.
@Git Em SteveDave: oh, gotcha. i'll have to check it out so i'm not confused next time.
From reading elsewhere, talk is that "Ninja Assassin" is code for what this really is, some manga adaptation that, of course, I can't remember the name of, but that most people seemed to be really fired up about. Well, the otakus, at least.
Sorry for being vague.
@Garrison Dean: "There was that one Christopher Lambert movie that was pretty sweet"
Highlander 2? That had wire work in it.
Hey you did say you liked Matrix 2 & 3...
Surly everyone has seen this site, but it should be posted just in case. Don't ever forget it's a ninja's job to flip out and kill people.

@Epaminondas: I was referring to "The Hunted" check it out. But I have no problem with Wire Work. Just the overuse of it has led to a lot of people who should be no where near a kung-fu movie starring in it. Bulletproof Monk comes immediately to mind.
Rain will be called Ninja Assasin.
Collin will be called Fantastical Ninja.
Story from Secret Plot Deep!
@extracrispy: I never started. Sometimes I feel like the only person who didn't like The Matrix.
Well, I did love Bound. They should make a lot more small scale fun pieces. Not this epic bollocks they've been producing.
Please let this be a "Drunken Wu-Tang" remake.

So, they never considered having, I don't know, _Japanese_ actors play ninjas...? Seeing as how there's really not that many Korean ninjas out there and all... (I do realize that ninjas are usually masked, but you get my point)
rain/bi is also in the wachowski bros new movie speed racer as...Taejo Togokhan.
@B: He would be this guy

Rumour had it that it is supposed to be a live action remake of Ninja Scroll due to the open casting call that had Jubei listed as a role, but Jubei is supposedly quite a popular character in Japanese lore and so it could be one of many stories out there. What piques my interest is that Bi/Rain has insisted that his Korean identity be included in the role, which means this movie is bound to piss at least one nation off.
@twreckx:
Thank you!
This is what I was talking about upthread.
Will there be a tranny ninja called Lana. If not I'll pass.
If it's "Naruto", then thousand people will instantly explode.
Maybe it will make up for the crime against cinematography Speed Racer will be. I'm always up for Ninjas.
I can't find I'm a, "Cyborg, but That's OK." or "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance." any where in town ><
Rain is that longish hair young asian guy in Speed Racer
Psst...Collin Chou is Chinese. Ninja are Japanese. Collin 是中國人。Ninja 是從日本來的。。。
