We may never get to see Sue Storm give birth to Franklin Richards, as actress Jessica Alba has promised. A third Fantastic Four movie is looking unlikely, says Johnny Storm actor Chris Evans, thanks to the negative feedback the first two movies have gotten. Fox has stayed mum about continuing the franchise, and Evans is eager to move on to other challenges. But he'd be up for a cameo as Johnny in a Spider-Man or Hulk movie. [MTV Movies]

and let me be the first to piss on its grave.
But disasters always come in threes.
And those flicks made a mint. Since when has quality been the determining factor on what movies get made?

@Plague: Ooh Ooh I want to be second to piss on it's grave!
Anyone else get the impression that they're lulling us into a false sense of security?
*Dances on grave*
Good riddance, we really dont need any more shitty F4 movies, do we? Isnt two enough to skull-rape your childhood memories?
Negative feedback? I'm sorry, since when did the new Fox care about anything other than the bottom line. I call b.s. on this one. They want money, pure and simple, and this has been making it for them. Negative feedback didn't stop them from AVP2, or Die Hard 4 or Ratner on X3 or all the other Tom Rothman nightmares.
@Garrison Dean: positive feedback didn't save Firefly or Arrested Development, either...
Fox works in mysterious ways.
They should make a Galactus movie with him just busting up inhabited planets for two hours.
If I had the budget, I'd totally do either Metal Men or Doom Patrol.
Oh trust me, there will be a third one.
But without Fantastic Four 3, there will be no Fantastic Four 4!
@smokyburnout:
i think that kind of proves Garrisons point all the more...
positive, negative, who gives a flying hoot. As long as it makes money, thats all that really matters
btw: to the ones who seemingly hated the movies with a passion...just remember, its just another dumb hollywood flick, nothing more.
Really? Aw, cause I thought making Galactus a FUCKING CLOUD was a good idea.
Neither F4 movie was particularly good, but I actually thought that F4^2 was better than F4.
That is to say, I actually watched all of F4^2 at my house, whereas when F4 was played on an airplane flight I did my best impression of D.B. Cooper as fast as I could.
Any movie series that makes Dr. Doom look really lame is a movie series I don't want to see.
Seriously, he's the only competent super villain in all of comics.
But I walked out of F42 feeling annoyed. The ending sequence where Mr. Fantastic gains all the four's powers IN COMPLETE OPPOSITION to the way the power swap worked the whole rest of the movie just frustrated me. Seriously, if the writers don't care about the plot, why should I?
Chris Evans was the only well-cast F4 members. He'd make a good cameo in something else...
Only reason I ever watched F4 was for Jessica Alba. And even then I felt unsatisfied by the movie.
@Garro: To be fair.. if you looked carefully you could totally see Galactus in the cloud, Kirby style mechanics and big silly helmet and all. But I'm not defending it, just pulling what I could from that movie.
Well I think that if you had a better story and put anyone in other then Jessica Alba then the movie would have been a hit. How hard is it to stick to methos.
Kate Bosworth would have made a better Sue Storm. And it would have saved us from her shitty performance as Lois Lane.
I could never get around to liking Reed Richards in the movies, and Jessica Alba annoyed me too. Johnny and the Thing were cool though, wouldn't mind seeing them again. Also, the FF movies seemed more based on the Ultimates version of FF than the original, hence Galactus the giant cloud.
I liked the movies. But then, I'm an adult who remembers the original series when it was fresh, and I have a life.
Sorry, I'm going to have to be the guy who's actually disappointed at the news. Did FF & FF2 make some occasionally bad choices? Sure. But they were good popcorn flicks, suitable for an all ages audience and featured some of the aspects that made the FF so popular back in the 60s and into the 70s. Was it of the quality of Spiderman 2 or X-men 2? No. But was it an entertaining way to spend a couple of hours with my kids? Yes, yes it was. And if you asked me to choose between X-men 3 or FF 2, I'd choose the latter.
I'm late to the comment party on this one, but I think that's a bummer. I thought the ending to the second movie was a bit of a mess, but the casting of Evans and Chiklis was pretty perfect. I never really empathized with Reed or Sue in the comics, so I guess they were cast well, too. WizarDru sums it up pretty well (except X-Men 3 did have Jamie Madrox...).
Plus, the world could always use more Dr. Doom.
@Cacafuego: I'm an adult too. I'm just not old enough to remember when the FF came out, because I wasn't born yet. @WizarDru: I'm going to have to agree with you about FF2 vs. X3.
