Why bother with a wage-earning, vacation-taking, lunch-going human female when a machine could do her job without asking for a single benefit or sick day? This 1962 ad for a table-top-sized answering machine (which appeared in Business Week, then aimed at an almost entirely male readership) showed management the way of the future. According to the copy, the Electronic Secretary was even "lovable." Bet she didn't file sexual harassment suits, either. Click through for a closer look at the secretary of the future.

HAHA thats so funny....The reason it's so funny is because I'm a college who work in an office setting and I unknowingly made the mistake of calling a woman a secretary. I then got lectured for half an hour that the term is "administrating Assistant" or something........I think I may send this picture throughout the office....lol
...Hey! My boss doesn't give me flowers.
(stoopid 'lectronic secretary...always hogging the bandwith, too.)
That thing would like like hell in a short skirt.
Pro: You can slap it on the butt if it stops working.
@superbryant88: Two different titles, because it's two different jobs. We actually have an admin assistant that has a secretary.
photonic secs sure beat electronic secs
I'd love a Persocom like on Chobits
Aww. It's like Stephen Fry giving his iPhone flowers.
