This morning we have spoilers so intense, they earned someone a cease-and-desist letter with the Hulk on it. There are rumors about the Iron Man movie, and a new set picture from the live action Dragonball. There are also new hints about Lost, Smallville and Battlestar Galactica. And comic-book spoilers for Marvel Comics and the Batman titles. Click through to start the spoiler campaign.
Iron Man
We won't see Iron Man's fellow armored superhero War Machine in the Iron Man movie, but we may get to see Jim Rhodes (who becomes War Machine) put on Iron Man's old armor to rescue Tony Stark, based on hints actor Terence Howard dropped. [IESB]
Dragonball
Here's a picture of the Mexican set for the new Dragonball movie, opening in 2009. It looks like some kind of crater, presumably with CGI stuff happening in the middle where the greenscreen is. [Slashfilm]
Lost
There are rumors that the next Lost episode (the one with the funeral in Iraq) will also feature "GI Jack (aka "Through the Looking Glass" Jack)" in action, and could be a multi-character flash-forward. The episode definitely will feature scenes on the beach, in Otherton, and in the forested valley where Karl was shot. There's also a rumor there will be no Sawyer-centric episode this season. [DocArzt]
Smallville
The April 24 episode of Smallville, "Sleeper," feaures a blonde femme fatale named Vanessa, sent to investigate one of the characters. [BabetteW54]
Battlestar Galactica
Here are the official first 15 episode titles of season four: "He That Believeth In Me," "Six of One," "The Ties That Bind," "Escape Velocity," "The Road Less Travelled," "Faith," "Guess What's Coming to Dinner," "Sine Qua Non," "The Hub," "Revelations," "Sometimes a Great Notion," "The Disquiet That Follows my Soul," "The Oath," "Blood on the Scales," and "No Exit." [Pop Media Cult]
Batman
Robin's dead ex-girlfriend, Spoiler, recently started turning up mysteriously in some of the Batman comics, but we won't find out who the new Spoiler is until this summer. But she's someone we know, says writer Chuck Dixon. Also, Robin will soon face a "true badass" named 666Gun, who will force Robin to rethink his view on the world. And an upcoming storyline will challenge Tim Drake's present as Robin, and his hard-won future as Batman. This synopsis, plus an upcoming cover image (below), gives weight to the idea that Batman will be dying and Robin will take his place. [Comic Book Resources]
Marvel Comics
A low-level Marvel employee dished some minor spoilers (and bitched about the company) in a Livejournal that was deleted over the weekend. Apparently, spoilers included that several of the company's classic 1970s heroes will turn out to have been replaced by shape-shifting alien Skrulls years ago (as part of the big "Secret Invasion") — and that means blaxploitation hero Luke Cage will be back to his original tiara-wearing, yellow shirt look. Also, Iron Man may get a new villain: MODOG. And Spider-Man's dead girlfriend Gwen Stacy may be back. [Lying In The Gutters]

Sorry, Marvel beat you to it with Cap/Bucky.

Marvel Obviously Deserves Only Gibes
*sigh* Robin will become Batman? Robin? Who's about sixteen years old? Not Nightwing? Which would make, y'know, sense?
I'm very patient with comics, and I accept the cyclical nature of the primary characters' story arcs, but seriously... Can't they *just* tell some good stories? Do they *constantly* have to kill people off for dramatic effect? They managed to just tell stories in the past, but now Shocking Death(TM) is the only thing they seem to be able to come up with to add drama.
Note to DC and Marvel: BORED NOW!
Man, I want a C&D from The Hulk. Off to eBay...
Grant Morrison talks a little about this in an IGN article.
Sounds like its more of a metaphoric death for the concept of "Batman".
@DeepFriar: *Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz*
@DeepFriar:
Morrison's Obviously Deeply Obsessed with Grant.
@braak: Excellent.
I would like to add that if I ever met MODOK, or Ms. MODOK, or their dog, I would freak the fuck out. MODOK looks scary.
Marvel Only Dishes Out Garbage
Mental Organism Designed Only for Grooming -Tony's pedicure bot goes on a rampage
Mediocre Onion Destined Only to Grow
Spiderman - Do I even have a reason to pick up the book anymore? His reveal was the best part of Civil War, had so much potential and had to be ruined by Marvel.
@Final: Meant for Oubliettes: Dead Old Girlfriends.
@braak: you said octagonal, therefore:
HODOG
Hexagonally Oriented Demolisher of Octagonal Grids
@Final: that's not even the worst part. I mean, a deal with Mephisto? Seriously?
About five Avengers teams, maybe seven X-men titles, and now the big deal is about Skrulls.
You'd think the writers strike was still going.
@JennaW: Actually it makes sense. They have talked about this in several of the Bat-Family books. Nightwing has established his own identity, and has no interest in becoming Batman. Robin, is the chosen replacement. And if you want to take into account the "Titans of the Future" possible future, that is how it ends up being.
That being said, I don't see Bruce going away for any extended length of time. He sells better than Captain America has over the long term, so it would be a bigger risk to several ongoing books for DC to take out Bruce Wayne for a long time, and lose Robin from his own series and from Titans.
I agree with JennaW.... zzzzzzz *snort* zzzz ghgggh zzzzz
And Craters in Dragonball? Well hell there better be some... They routinely make craters every episode... lol
@dOk: I was more excited when I thought it was really a Mexican Hell Pit.
I do like the reference to the "Death In The Family" cover...
It would be nice to have some real stories once in a while. Killing Bruce...ugggg.
Hmm, I figured the only way to do a Dragonball movie would be entirely CGI.
Title 15 for Battlestar is "No Exit". AWESOME. Also the whole Batman/Robin thing I think EVERYONE has been expecting for years and Nightwing isn't going to become Batman, because he's, you know, Nightwing. He's a fully formed hero with his own shit goin' on. And Robin has and will always feel inferior as Robin, and will want to take on the Mantle of the Bat. Dragonball i've always thought was ridiculous b-shit, but I watch Star Trek, so, there ya go. My thoughts on BAttlestar (and anyone with half a brain has had some idea close to this since the beginning) They all follow Kara way back to the past, (Greece and Atlantis anybody?) Evolve. Capricans eventually become Romans, feed the Cylons to the lions for Effing up their whole species, wham bam The Christians turn 180, now it's Cylon RULE TIME AGAIN BITCH! How about your emperor's a Cylon-Christian now and we'll set back the evolution of your species 2000 YEARS! Where at some point a bunch of crazy religious types obsessed with greek mythology create FTL and start 12 colonies near Gemini and Virgo, full of other Greek Cultists and invent a race a Terminators that go all Arnie on your ass.
Or not. Whatever.
OK, the Spoiler is Stephanie. Or else it's a clone of her, but I doubt anyone would take the time to clone a nobody like her. She just didn't die. Otherwise, who else was that blonde at the end of the latest issue?
And I doubt they're killing off Batman. For such a major rumor to have been circulating since the Fall, no one is doing much of anything to propagate it. Technically, they already killed Batman in the books. His heart stopped completely and he was revived by the dude torturing him. From what I understand, Grant Morrison is deconstructing the Batman character and exploring him from a different perspective. If that is still in the cards, then there's no point in killing off the character so soon.
re: Nightwing and why he can't be Batman, this is the same Nightwing that DC was considering to have die at the of the last Crisis (but that lawsuit over the Superboy name helped them decide). DC editors have stated for a while that they don't know what to do with Dick Grayson, and it's not like his books sell extremely well. Turning him into Batman would actually be far more logical than Tim - especially since Dick has already been Batman.
Then again, I'm happy with things so long as the new Batman isn't Jason Todd...
"killed" and "batman".
wow i never thought i would hear those two words in the same sentence.
dragonball es muy peligroso
@Gospel X: Oh god Jason as Batman is terrifying on sooo many levels. He'll finally become the full blown Fascist-Vigilante he's been sneaking up on all of these years. I really, really hope that Stephanie is Dead and stays DEAD! War Games, while I know wasn't viewed as that great by others, I LOVED, because it felt a bit more like what Batman would REALLY be dealing with if he ruled a city. Gangs, power vacuums and stupid police effing up his shit. Also, that perspective change that Morrison is dealing with right now, as it is GM is brilliant. I wrote a little essay last year that seems to be somewhat along the same lines. I argued that Batman was in need of some major ideological restructuring for the 21st century if he was going to continue to be an interesting character. He needs a flaw, a major one, that he is incapable of "Shark Repellent Spraying" Away. Like a mental condition, SPLIT PERSONALITIES ANYONE? (Seems like all of my good ideas are stolen by GrantMorrison before I've even read em. ! guess I need to start working that pen a little faster.) Fortunately for comics fans, unfortunate for DC and MARVEL, the comics industry is exploding right now! (I finally have a JOB! YAY!) But the newer fans are more drawn to Speculative Fiction (DMZ, Y: The Last Man, Walking Dead, Casanova, Ex Machina) Than the super hero stuff. And as long as these Legacy characters continue to be broadly written and without stories with unalterable consequences, they will continue to see their properties decline (until the next movie of course). On that note, I think that the death of The Batman, could do much more for the franchise than his continuing life, but could just as easily create a Crisis only a Zero Hour could repair (or destroy further).
@ithidet: Sí! Síííííí!
