It's sad but true: we'll probably never see another Aliens vs. Predator movie, now that AVP2 failed to set last Christmas on fire. But that doesn't mean Hollywood can't revive some other moribund franchises by forcing them to fight each other. Which classic but struggling universes would you like to see mashed together into an uncomfortable — but thrilling — clash of titans? Click through to vote.

The Prisoner vs. SciFi's Flash Gordon. Let's just get this over with.
Land of the Lost vs. V The Series: The Sleestaks and the Reptilian Aliens from V throw down in a cold-blooded (literally!), tongue flicking, venom spitting cage match. The loser becomes luggage.
Anything to bring Quatermass back is fine by me.
@Rasselas: Oh dear, I think I left the oven on. (jumps out window)
This sort of discussion has been going on on the intertubes for years. In case you need more ideas.
River Tam vs. Everyone, please!
The farscape universe vs the star trek universe
Now honestly, what are the chances that Van Damme would do the splits? Let's try and keep things in the realm of reality, people.
The Culture (Iain M. Banks) vs. Battlestar Galactica
Banzai Institute ftw, Go Blue Blazer Irregulars!
Too many fantastic quotes...
"John Ya-ya and John Smallberries"
Where are we going?
Planet 10!
When?
Real soon!
Pardon me while I go watch the dumbest quote filled movie ever...
Slow news day, huh?
How about we send the Terminator back to the take out the Misfits of Science? Maybe without Courtney Cox, Friends would never have happened. It is kind of sad though, I like Courtney Cox. But Friends was an abomination.
Predator vs. Rambo. That's all I'm saying.
Star Trek vs Alien(s)
I see it as rather like The Trouble with Tribbles, with aliens popping out of chests all over the place. Maybe aliens and tribbles could be natural enemies...
Just as an aside, tribbles obviously derive from Heinlein's martian flat cats.
I Am Legend vs. Independence Day vs. I, Robot.
There can only be one Will Smith.
And I can't believe you left out Star Wars vs. Star Trek. Or is that too cliche?
The Enterprise vs. Galactica.
T.I.E Fighers vs. Vipers
Oh.. and not SciFi but...
(Daniel Craig's) Bond vs Jason Bourne
Frodo Baggins vs. Harry Potter
How about Star Trek TNG vs Babylon 5? With Wesley Crusher as a megalomaniac world dictator? In Finnish? Wait....its been done already.

Hey!
Wheres Robocop VS Terminator!
That was one of my favorite games on the Sega Gamegear!
@diverguy:
Frodo Baggins vs. Harry Potter?
That's not a fight to the death. That's a slash fic.
How about the Lexx vs. the Enterprise? Kirk would undoubtedly get a little "clusterworm" action.
The X-Files vs Manimal.
Scully is attracted to Dr. Chase, despite Mulder's protestations that Chase is spearheading a vast cryptozoological conspiracy.
Buckaroo Banzai vs. Bill and Ted. Not because I really like either of those two movies, but because I think it would be the most amusing.
Meanwhile, the Matrix doesn't deserve to be in the same sentence as Blade Runner (but I'm feeling gracious right now), much less the same movie.
Firefly v. Fifth Element
River Tam v. Leeloo and Korban Dallas v Jyne... You have no clue how much I'd pay to see that...
@TheN: I Got banned over at Wonkette for saying Slow News Day... Bastards...
@BlindKarma:
I kind of feel like Firefly needs to be matched against something really utopian. That or old school.
I call for Firefly vs. original Star Trek or Firefly vs. the original Lost In Space.
Polity Agent Cormac and his golem/warbot pals vs. the space hippies of Jack Kirby's The Forever People.
Cleopatra 2525 vs. Sarah Connor Chronicles vs. Firefly!
@MrWashy: "More power to him, Bigbooty"
"Bionic Woman [Women?]" vs "Terminator". It seems only natural, ya know.
The Terminator vs. The Bad Girls Club on the Oxygen channel.
Blake's 7 vs. Aliens.
@foolish-rain: Would Gina Torres be fighting herself?
I always wanted to see Clark Kent (Smallville) go to Los Angeles and actully run into Angel Investigations. There are a lot of angles that storyline could have taken.
Only half sci-fi, but I want a Doctor Who / Deadwood mash-up very, very badly. Or at the very least, an uncensored Calamity Jane as the Doctor's companion.
@TheN: Yes, because we only cover news on this blog.
@ratlas: Most Alien films showed us human-born aliens. Alien 3 showed us a canine-born alien. AVP showed us an alien with the Predator's double jaw thing going on. What would a tribble-born alien look like? I don't think I'm gonna be able to sleep tonight, dammit.
@MonkeyT: Tribbalien! I demand that you make this into a fan film now now now!!!
@OnwardChristianLaettner: How about Blake's 7 versus EVERYBODY? Star Trek and Aliens and the Matrix and Star Wars and Battlestar and Doctor Who, etc. etc. You could have a moment where Blake is preparing to lead them into battle against every franchise ever, including Lensmen, and Villa says, "this is crazy!" And Avon says, "Yes. But when has that ever stopped us?" And then you could have lots of cardboard cutouts of spaceships zooming towards the camera. It would rule!
The most obvious, and coincidentally the most awesomest, vs matchup ever?
Summer Tam vs the Cameron Terminator.
Seriously, is there anything better than this?
Thunderbirds versus Star Wars
The match up I really want to see?
Predator vs. Survivor
You know you want it.
Land of the Lost vs. Yellow Submarine.
@foolish-rain: That's BigbooTAY...
@ratlas: In his book about writing "The Trouble with Tribbles," David Gerrold says that he had read The Rolling Stones about 15 years prior, but didn't realize how similar his critters were to Martian Flat Cats until it was pointed out to him. Fortunately, Heinlein didn't take offense, citing the story "Pigs Is Pigs" by Ellis Parker Butler as an even earlier use of the idea.
Dune vs. Flash Gordon (feature film iterations of both) - just for the visuals.
Obviously, Quantum Leap is the show that can crossover with almost anything:
"Al! Where am I? Why is this robot trying to kill me?"
"Al! Where am I? Why is an invisible monster trying to kill me?"
"Al! Where am I? Why is this car talking to me?"
"I'm a cyborg. Oh boy."
"Sleestaks? I hate the Seventies!"
Feel free to pick up the baton and run with it, people.
@ideaman2020: "Laugh-a while you can, monkey-boy!"
Aliens vs. Predator vs. Terminator vs. Robocop.
I fully realize how uninventive this is - I still want to see it. >_>
Mr T vs Frey Bentos
/end of
Lexx vs. io9
I have been genetically programmed to vote for anything Space 1999
@atrus123: Don't you hate on the Matrix. Real-world Neo v Deckhard? oh yes.
The muppets from Farscape vs the puppets from Star Wars. Go!
i prefer Voltron vs transformers or maybe thundercats vs he man.
Robocop vs. Terminator I thought would be a no brainer.
And exhibition Terminator vs. R2D2 would be amusing too.
A few others:
Andromeda vs. STNG
Buffy the Vampire Slayer vs. Smallville (I enjoy massacres from time to time)
Lost vs. Lost vs. Land of the Lost (not a typo, just a time paradox)
BSG vs. The Love Boat
Since RoboCop and Starship Troopers obviously take place in the same world (though I theorize that RC is about 150 years prior to ST), I think some kind of Verhoeven-directed mash-up would be appropriate. And they can finally tie that in to the power-suits from the ST novel.
Starship Troopers' bugs vs. Alien's aliens. Then Ripley and her boyfriend Johnny Rico can be sent in to kill them all!!!
Alice vs Leeloo
Dwayne Hoover vs David Dunn
Bob Arctor vs Johnny Mnemonic
Ash vs. Jack Burton
Gimme Robocop vs. BSG. Murphy was the first hybrid.
@BlindKarma: Must take cold shower right now.
Moties vs Tribbles in a tub of Spanish Fly
@foolish-rain:
Firefly vs Buffy...easy!
Firefly vs BSG... same sfx crew!
Firefly vs "Saving Private Ryan"....now THATS a crossover!
;)
@Ryan H: oh, yes, Yes, YES YES YES YES
No Terminator vs Robocop? I'm shocked.
