Behind The Scenes Of Dragonball And Hulk

spoilers3.jpgWelcome to another batch of Morning Spoilers. I've been somewhat amazed by how accurate our spoilers have been lately, for "Secret Invasion" as well as for Battlestar and Doctor Who. It just proves that the internet is more reliable than people give it credit for. This morning, there are photos of the Dragonball movie which the studio tried to suppress. Plus a featurette on the making of Incredible Hulk, and new pics and spoilers for Doctor Who. Also, find out whose childhood we'll be exploring on Lost. And there are new descriptions of every upcoming Battlestar Galactica episode. Consider yourself spoiler warned!

Incredible Hulk:

Here's a new video about the making of Incredible Hulk that turned up online recently. It's mostly scenes from the trailer, interspersed with some interviews, but there's a bit of new footage in there, especially more background on the origins of the movie's version of the Abomination, played by Tim Roth:

Dragonball:

Here are some new set photos from the live-action Dragonball movie, which give our first glimpses of the costumes. Fox tried to suppress these photos, but Dragonball information wants to be free. [TrekMovie]

Lost:

Some more spoilers for the eleventh Lost episode of the season, where we witness the birth of Locke. Not only is grown-up Locke there, but so is Matthew Abaddon, Widmore's underling who organized the freighter trip. And there's a scene in the 1950s or 1960s where a six-year-old girl runs out in the street and gets run over. Also, we see a teenage Locke in the 1950s, arguing with his schoolteacher about whether science is really valid. Locke's high school team is the Cowin Heights Knights. Meanwhile, Sun, Jin, Farraday and Charlotte wander the jungle, and there's a mysterous Dharma doorway.

Also, the season finale features two Australians: A 40-ish blonde named Donna who has to deliver bad news, and Millbanks, a tough outdoorsman. [Spoilers Lost]

Battlestar Galactica:

We won't find out who the final Cylon is until late in Battlestar Galactica's fourth season, meaning in late 2008 or 2009. Also, the un-boxing of D'Anna (Lucy Lawless)'s Cylon leads up to us learning what she knows, which sets in motion the show's final climax. [TrekWeb]

And here are official descriptions the next 10 Battlestar episodes, which give away huge chunks of plot development, including an alliance between the humans and one group of Cylons in the coming Cylon civil war:

  • "Six of One" - Conflict and mistrust torment humans and Cylons alike, as both sides struggle to understand their respective mythologies - one rooted on Earth, the other in the mysteries of the Final Five.
  • "The Ties that Bind" - With Kara Thrace piloting a lone freighter in her desperate search for Earth, political intrigue and marital discord aboard the Galactica are paralleled by deep rifts in the Cylons' solidarity.
  • "Escape Velocity" - Religious freedom is debated and defended as the messianic Gaius Baltar promotes his belief in one true God.
  • "The Road Less Travelled" - The prospect of a truce between humanity and the Cylons encourages Starbuck to trust an old enemy.
  • "Faith" - The cancer-stricken President Laura Roslin and hotheaded pilot Kara Thrace both must make difficult leaps of faith in order to accept an uneasy alliance with the Cylons.
  • "Guess What's Coming to Dinner" - President Roslin's leadership is tested as the Galactica teams up with Cylon rebels in a plot to destroy the enemy's vital Resurrection Hub.
  • "Sine Qua Non" - President Roslin's abduction by the Cylon Hybrid triggers a bitter power struggle within the Colonial fleet.
  • "The Hub" - In pursuit of the enemy's Resurrection Hub, a misfit team of Viper pilots and Cylon rebels become uneasy collaborators as they formulate a battle plan.
  • "Revelations" - A band of rebel Cylons holds President Roslin hostage while attempting to lure the Final Five out of hiding inside the Galactica and the human fleet.
  • "Untitled" - Starbuck learns that the dire predictions of the Cylon Hybrid might be true, and a devastating discovery plunges the fleet into chaos and despair.
So it sounds as though Starbuck and Leoben will be getting cozy together, unless there's some other "old enemy" she decides to trust. (Maybe they bring back Scar?) [TrekWeb again]

Doctor Who:

In the Doctor Who season finale, when all the old companions come back, Martha will be among them. And Sarah Jane Smith's robot dog K-9 will also make an appearance. It will be "nose to nipple" in the TARDIS. Every episode of the season is full of clues to how it ends, including someone saying, "She's back" in the second episode. And the tenth episode, "Midnight," is "psychologically creepy" in a way the show has never been before. [Daily Star]

A lot of the rumors about the season finale are true, says Russell T. Davies, but nobody's gotten the whole picture yet. And it does look as though Davros will be back. Also, ex-Prime Minister Harriet Jones will be back in the finale. [Edinburgh Evening News]

And here are some photos from this Saturday's Pompeii episode. [Planet Gallifrey]

  • anyone else think dragon ball looks like a$$? reminds me of that live action Double Dragon sadness back in the 80's that my mom wouldn't let me watch... i think i owe her one for that...

  • Last Cylon Theories;

    A) Zoe R from Caprica (which also happens to leave a big hook for Caprica when they actually get the show out)
    B) Bulldog (nothing seems *slightly* odd about what happened to him?)
    C) Baltar (although perhaps looking less likely considering how some of the things that initially made it look like he could be a toaster are now happening to Starbuck too)
    D) Zarek (somehow it just seems appropriate, plus we know next to nothing about him himself, just the political stuff)

  • @markcheng: I don't think there is any possible way one could do a live action Dragonball movie and have it come off well. Same for most video games/anime, actually.

  • Hulk mad that Dragonball look like crap!

  • @darundal: I'd like to back up this assertion with a prime example: the first Mortal Kombat movie.
Which is exactly what Dragonball is looking like

  • more like dragonSUCK amirite?

  • Is Starbuck a Cylon?

  • "President Roslin's abduction by the Cylon Hybrid" as far as we know at this point, the only Cylon hybrid is an infant, right? Or is this the name of the rebel group? Fascinating.

Dragonball is going to totally suck. It looks like a fan film.

  • Damn it, why am I reading the BSG spoilers!? I promised myself I wouldn't...

I think a big part of who the 12th is is when D'Anna sees that person and apologizes. Did D'Anna kill anyone? I don't remember.

As for DBZ, the squared circle picture makes me think of the karate kid... which would be AWESOME. Danial-son a super sayan? RADICAL!

  • @AhnyerKeester: No the "hybrids" are the Basestar pilots. The tub o goo guys.

IE hybrid between the machine centurions, and the human commanders.

  • The final cylon is Lieutenant Gaeta.

  • @DeepFriar: oh, no, the SECOND Mortal Kombat movie is PAINFUL, the first was at least kinda funny.

  • Bwahahaha! I HAVE to see the dragonball movie. It looks like it will either be vaguely amusing, or so bad I'll pee my pants laughing.

  • "Cylon rebels" is about all I need to read to confirm the fact that the greatest bit of this show ended with the destruction of their first resurrection ship. The New Caprica arc notwithstanding, as it fooled me enough into watching what turned out to be an awful season.

  • @markcheng: Double Dragon came out in the 90's, and I saw it in theatres when I was young. It was actually quite amusing to me then. Here's the point: Sometimes these movies are made for the youngsters, and they do an excellent job of pleasing them.

  • @Jeff-Minor: Actually, I don't think so. I think Baltar has a destiny like Starbuck does. Both have what someone who looks like a Cylon talking to them in their heads (although Baltar's is a little more present), and both have managed to somehow survive something that by all accounts should have killed them (even Caprica 6 though Baltar died on Caprica from the blast shockwave, and I always thought he survived because he was a Cylon)

@AhnyerKeester: That could be a reference to the Hybrids that control the Basestars, or possibly even the first Hybrid (at this point, I think it is safe to assume that just because we saw someone get blown up doesn't mean they won't return).

  • Darundal, maybe Starbuck is in that spiritual wish-washy zone the the writers like to dabble in. Maybe she's just a conduit through which occult powers use to communicate. She's a Speaker for the Dead. Maybe she is an angel...?

  • Man...I think the Dragonball movie is actually trying to be a serious, gritty movie...A serious, gritty movie based on a show starring giant alien monkey fighters and extras named after various random everyday objects, where nobody does anything for hours on end except vibrate and look constipated.

I really hope that sort of thing makes it into the movie. I'd love to see the directors notes for a scene like that.

  • Wait... so why is the title pic from an old book cover for 'Have Spacesuit, Will Travel'? i saw that and got all excited, thinking there was going to be a movie or something, but you left me hanging.

even dorkier than that, i recognized it not from having read that particular edition, but from the differing arrangement of headlights and antennae on the two helmets.

  • dragonball movie is not actually going to look like that. They're only set pictures.

Still have hope for this movie.
