In yet another cool image from the HiRISE camera on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter near Mars, we see these dunes on the planet's surface. This image comes from the Hellespontus region of Mars, where sand from local mesas has been molded into these shapes by high intensity winds. No word yet on whether the famous canals of Mars are actually wormsign. You can learn more about Martian sand dunes here. Photo via AP, HO, and NASA.

Cool.
Pac Man!
What to you call the second dune to the east?
We call that "horseshoe crab".
Then I shall be known as Paul Horseshoecrab.
I know I have to take a break from Trek when I believe that dune vaguely resembles a communicator.
So is mars not really red?
@Miranda Kali: I'm not sure Horseshoecrad has the same rallying powers... but we will go with it...
You know go with the worm...
uhm... is that where the spice is located? Is that a sand worm down in the left bottom corner?...
I saw this when I went to take a peak to the site from the last post. Now, if only they find Spice...
@Gann: Not when you don't use a color camera...
@Miranda Kali:
Tell me about your world Paul Horseshoecrab.
I guess it has as much rallying power as "the mouse". Rock on, Usul.
@Miranda Kali: rofl!That was so geek-tastic! Awesome.
I'd say it's more like 'lobstersign'.
Very pretty.
