A robot that can plug itself in would be totally unstoppable — as long as the power was turned on. It's like a cat who knows how to work a can-opener. German artist Andre Kutscherauer's 3-D CGI images show manic bots that look like Pixar's mutant offspring. My favorite image is the one below, showing a lightbulb bot that's plugged itself in — and now faces some unfortunate moth trouble.

Doesn't this first guy work for Gyro Gearless? Obviously, he has defected to ze Germans!
i love the giant eyeball robot. it's ready to give that fish a mutant-robot-ninja-ass-kicking!
These are effin awesome.
Boy is he gonna be bummed when he sees the outlet is European
That last one is pretty damn cool.
I confess, I find moths to be creepy/icky.
It's strange, I'm mostly sqeamless.

@DeepFriar: As the artist is German, I doubt it's going to pose a problem... (but whatever, it was a funny comment nonetheless, I admit it)
He should really commission some of those for desk lamp/sculptures. I would buy the moth variant in a heartbeat.
If any of this happens, we're screwed.
@92BuickLeSabre:
Stop plugging those horrible puns!
@Klebert L. Hall: Seems you're not the only one whom moths make lightheaded.
Brilliant!
Is that first one seeking enlightenment, or did he just off himself?
when i was little i always wondered why tick tock of oz never just wound himself up. later as an adult i realized that he would expend more energy doing the winding himself than he would gain from it.
That reminds me of Little Helper from Gyro Gearloose!
@beercheck: Given the lack of visible battery, I'd say he just offed himself. If my cord were that short I might also.
@DeepFriar: We need to ban robots from using outlets God never intended their plugs to be in. It's the only way to protect the sanctity of electricity.

Chibi-Robo?
Some of these would probably make great covers for Ron Goulart's old sf novels. I like to think a lot of his work inspired "Idiocracy."
Great Kafkaesque sculptures. I'd love to have one on my desk.
Oh, I've this first image on my desktop for years. It's so gorgeous and simple.
That first image of the lightbulb robot always seems to be number one in the 'Most Popular' category at wallpaper site Social Wallpaper.
What came first, this or Chibi-Robo? I guess Chibi-Robo doesn't have a lightbulb...
