Harvest Your Baby's Stem Cells -- Or Buy Them Online!

grodycellhucksters.jpg With all the controversy about stem cells, it's about time you get to try them for yourself. That's why SmartCells is selling kits for sucking the blood out of your baby's umbilical cord and storing up all the nice stem cells inside it for a rainy day when you need to regrow an organ or something. Or maybe you just want a whole mess of stem cells and you don't care where they come from? Here are some online shopping options for you.

Try BioTime, a company that promises to start selling "human embryonic progenitor" stem cells "to scientists" any day now. International Stem Cell Corporation already supplies bulk orders of stem cells to its partner companies. If you manage to get one of these companies to send you some stem cells, send us an email with some proof and we'll write all about it.

  • Cartman: Fine! I don't need you assholes! I can sell these fetuses all on my own!
[Cartman's house, later. He's up in his room placing cold calls to business he finds in the Yellow Pages.]
Cartman: Hello. Is this theee University of Colorado Biology Department? ...Great, uh I understand you're corrently doing research on stem cells? Kewl, because I'm currently in possession of some aborted fetuses that I'm looking to unload? ...Uh, how much do you pay? ...No, no, come on, ah I got a guy who's gonna give me eighty dollars a pound right now. ...How about a hundred? ...Oh you're breaking my balls- I, I'll think about it.
    [later]
Bosnod Medical Group? ...Yeah, I called earlier about the stem cells and the fetuses? ...Okay, hi Randy, yeah. ...Oh yes, they've been kept in a cool temperature, yeah. ...These are primo fetuses, Randy, I wouldn't jerk you around. ...So what can your company give me for 'em? ...Oh Randy, you're breaking my balls here. ...You're breaking my balls, Randy.

You're breaking my balls. ...I'm telling you, if you let this deal pass you by, you're making a fetal mistake. [suddenly grins and covers the receiver with his right hand] That's a joke [removes his hand from the receiver] ...A hundred ten. ...Alright, alright, we got a deal. ...Good bye. [hangs up and relaxes, putting his feet up on his desk and his hands behind his head] Damn I'm good.

  • This beats the heck out of those crummy Sea Monkeys I bought last week.

  • Uhhh while stem cells can be all science fictiony, storing cored blood for stem cells is really about have back up stem cells in case your child gets fetal leukemia..

    But whatever.

  • @DocGratis: Oh dear, that is serious. Color me chagrined.

  • @DocGratis: Are you sure? I think it's just about having some stem cells around in case. Anybody can use the cells, after all. It's just handy that you can get some from your baby!

  • Well in some cases fetal cord blood can be used by related siblings, the theoretical primary treatment is for the infant.

The cord blood banking companies would like to make it sound like it has a hundred uses.. but right now no.

  • I should add that right now the primary stem cells being isolated from cord blood are hematopoetic stem cells (the cells that make all the types of blood cells). This is essentially the same thing as a bone marrow transplant, except is it non invasive. But the cells are the same cells.
