Welcome back to the morning spoiler zone. One Lost star has made some dire predictions about the life expectancy of his/her character. We've dredged up new details about Iron Man and Batman: The Dark Knight. Some new photos could hint at a major plot twist in X-Files 2, and another set of photos shows off the villains from December's Doctor Who Christmas special. And there are also some new hints about Heroes season three. The spoilers begin right here.
X-Files 2:
Here are some new promo stills from July's X-Files sequel. You can just glimpse a clipping behind Mulder that says something about a Frankenstein doctor.
Iron Man:
Professor Yin Sen, the Vietnamese scientist who helps Iron Man create his armor, is now played by Shaun Tolb, who also appears in The Kite Runner. Tolb says he appears in about 30 minutes of the movie, saves Iron Man's life and sends him on his journey. [Superhero Flix]
Batman: The Dark Knight.
That scene showing Heath Ledger in a body-bag won't be cut from the theatrical release of Batman: The Dark Knight, as some had speculated. [MovieHole]
Heroes
Here are the titles of the first four episodes of Heroes season three: "The Butterfly Effect," "Dreamtime," "One Of Us, One Of Them," and "The Year Of Our Lord." So, just reading between the lines here, we'll see some philosophizing about how you can't step on a butterfly without changing the course of history. And that wise Aborigine storyteller we're told is joining the cast will take us on a spiritual journey in the second episode. Or maybe I'm reading too much into those titles. In any case, the first two episodes are written by Tim Kring. [Heroes Television]
Lost:
In the first Lost episode back, we'll quickly learn the identity of the Rousseau and Karl snipers. The body that washes ashore in the episode is that of Doc Ray, from the freighter, and the body itself isn't as significant as what it implies. Meanwhile, we'll soon discover more about how the Island has a "pull" on people, even after they leave it. And there are more hints that Claire may not have much longer to live. [Spoilers Lost]
The second episode of Lost after the break involves Kate and Juliet teaming up to save Jack, whose "health is severely compromised." Meanwhile, Sawyer, Claire, Aaron and Miles head back to the beach, and then "something goes wrong." It appears this episode may be a Jack-centric flash-forward after all, since they were filming those scenes of FutureJack visiting Hurley in the mental hospital. [Fan Forum]
In upcoming episodes of Lost, Desmond stays on the freighter, where there are more shenanigans, says actor Henry Ian Cusick. And the actor has a strong feeling that Desmond is not going to make it out of the show alive. [Doc Arzt]
And here's a promo for the next episode:
Doctor Who:
Remember Friday's spoiler about the Doctor Who Christmas special featuring Cybermen in a Victorian graveyard? Here are a couple more pictures of the shooting. [South Argus and AltNation]
And here's the synopsis for the upcoming "Planet of the Ood": "The Doctor takes Donna far into the future, to her first alien world. But on the planet Ood-Sphere, they discover terrible truths about the Human Race. As the enslaved Ood struggle for survival, a secret buried for 200 years threatens to rise up and engulf them all." Cybermen in a graveyard...There's something delightfully "Plan 9 From Outer Space" about that.. So help me, though, they start doing the "Thriller" dance and I'm shooting my T.V.
Wait, so Heroes is resurrecting Gateway?
Oh yeah... that idea's not doomed to lameness.
Take a cue from Lost my mutant friends, and stick with what works. On Lost, when it returns: "something goes wrong" and "things are significant, but not for the reasons you think!"
If Desmond dies, who are Adam and Eve?
Err... well, even if Desmond IS Adam, Adam is still dead in the "end", so what Henry Ian Cusack says could still be spot-on. The Desmond/Penny plot is one of my favorite parts of the show. If he dies before they are reunited, it's pitchforks and torches.
I would be very, very bummed if they offed Des. "Lost" is one of those shows where I find I like the peripherals an awful lot more than the main characters.
I'd like to put in my vote for the "Lost" writers to return to their original idea regarding killing off Jack.
I'd hoped that the "Heroes" writers would get their mojo back, but the latest rumors are testing my faith pretty severely.
I love the revamped Cybermen. I hope they get past their "delete" catchphrase. Don't compete with the Daleks, tin men! Be your own bad!
Wait... Isn't he "butterfly effect" when a butterfly flaps his wings in New York and causes it to rain in China instead of being sunny?
Finally, a Doctor Who episode that'll really scare me. Cybermen and Cemetaries... I'm gonna have nightmares at the end of the year.
@steven522: It's elementary chaos theory Dr. Sattler.
Desmond always has the best episodes, and they would be stupid to kill him off.
@Ma1agate:
I too would like to know who Adam and Eve are as well. Maybe they will reveal it ... or maybe the network execs thought it was too creepy like the 4 toed statue and so it won't be talked about again.
Whoa, Desmond is *not* a main character?
Hmm, not much for me here today: Heroes and Lost are both rubbish.
Graveyard Cybermen, though, that I'll happily dribble over. :)
There is one thing about the BBC and Doctor Who that I feel may become a problem.
We all know the BBC is not able to fund huge projects, so they try to get the most for their investment.
This means using sets for multiple projects (like this weeks Pompeii.)
But I wonder if this has helped with seeing the new Cybermen and Daleks as much as we have in the best 3 years.
I am not going to complain just yet, but this could be a major reason why there are rumors that the Queen of the Racnoss will be back this year, and act as the new companion when the series starts it's next fill season. That is one expensive suit.
a wise aboriginal storyteller? OH THANK GOD, I WAS JUST THINKING "WHAT THIS SERIES NEEDS IS A MAGICAL NEGRO!"
Yeah! Kill off Tess! She killed Alex! And she tricked Max into sleeping with her! And she's a meanie!
@regis: Barack Obama? [www.latimes.com]
@Urael: Oh boy, aren't you the clever one? Hey, thanks for the head's up. I wasn't aware. I'll quit watching them both now that I'm in the know.
@regis: Yeah, I thought Mohinder kinda served the purpose of the wise old Black spiritualist/mystic. Then when they got Nichelle Nichols I thought they'd use her for that purpose. But sadly, they didn't do ANYthing with her at all. So in an apparent effort to better live up to every possible cliche, they're going with the ol' Aboriginal sage. How quaint. This will clearly invigorate the show. I thought it was dying, but could be salvaged once TPTB realized how much they sucked in season two. Now, I'm not so sure it's possible to salvage it. New characters, "new" cliches and formula is not the answer. I'll give it every opportunity, but I think like most fans, Heroes' days are numbered ... so sad.
They better not kill off Des. I can take them whacking almost anyone else. They have been warned.
Dear Lord, Mulder and Scully are still so pretty!
