Aliens are hot, and Naoto Hattori knows it. That's why the 32-year old New York-based Japanese artist draws them with such grace and beauty. People love his work so much that it's being shown all over the world, from Rome to California to Tokyo. See below for more provocative alien portraits by this man with an interplanetary aesthetic.

He uses acrylic, oil paint, watercolor, and ink to create stunning portrait paintings of these supermodel-grade beings from another planet. What's truly fascinating is the way he uses alien standards of beauty, rather than adhering to a human idea of what's sexy.

While perhaps not beautiful to traditional Homo Sapiens, these aliens are engaged in deeply spiritual acts that even humans can understand — like meditating and getting high in the nude. Images by Naoto Hattori

Wow, a Japanese artist who isn't a slave to Manga, I like!!
The last one looks like a Garbage Pail Kid.
Listen dammit... When you say NSFW you better mean it.
Needs more peen.
Ahhhh... OK?
i read that line as 'a man with an interplanetary prosthetic.' combine that with promises of NSFW portraits and.. well, imagine my disappointment.
No, no manga.
Just RK Sloane and a slew of others...
Not to say I don't like or anything.
Odd. Strangly intriguing, but odd.
Is there something wrong with my internet connection? All I see are a pair of vaguely interesting portraits and a couple of what could have been cover art for bad 70's rock bands.
Which ones are NSFW?
much better stuff on the guy's website gallery.
He's a thinker, more so than the above examples may show.
@Asari: I agree there are better at the site. I think some of it is etheric.
@Asari: Thanks for the heads up.
Seems heavily influenced by the Post-WWI European art scene actually - which totally works for me. Actually, for "futuristic" artwork, I'm surprised more people don't go back to those roots rather than rely on the pop art movements of the later 20th Century.
Ver' Nice.
@Garrison Dean, King Awesome:

@geekgrrl:
About the NSFW: I teach in the public school system. If I had opened this up and shown the bottom two pictures my teenage students would be going nuts about the "naked man" and the breasts. While I have a good relationship with my students, there are some teachers who have so "alienated" (ha ha - couldn't help it) the students that they would turn in those teachers for showing inappropriate things and offending them. I, for one, appreciate the "over the top caution" displayed here.
Having said all of that, I appreciated the ethereal quality of the first two pictures and agreed with @Thorfin:
Oops, hit the submit button accidentily. To finish, I agreed with @Thorfin: about the 70's rock band cover for the third picture. The fourth picture reminded me of Heironimous Bosch.
lol this is nsfw because?? lol nm
would have liked to see more thought, interesting concept; but promising nude aliens...? shame io9...
anyways the last one actually reminds me of that book pop-surrealism
lots of good stuff in there
