A group of aliens make a human their pet in a new Disney movie directed by David Silverman (The Simpsons Movie.) Silverman already has a pretty extensive scifi resume including, Robots, Monsters Inc., and RoboCop 3. Even though he has massive experience in animation and computer graphics, rumors are The Pet will be a live-action comedy. For the pet's sake I hope neutering is an Earth tradition only. Oh dear...it's a trendy concept.
"Fresh NEW idea! ...It's all about aliens 'n stuff...but get this, WE'RE the aliens!" "Like, everyone else is a creature from outer space, but WE are the ones who're different!"
"...Oh come on! All the cool production companies are doing it! You know you want to.."

I'm afraid not. See Ice Pirates.
Don't take me, I'm not housebroken.
They should be careful, even well trained humans are never really tame.
How very Fantastic Planet meets Alf of them.
Look out! Here's got a board! With a Nail in it! -Kodos
if you set out to hurt Serak the Preparer's feelings, then mission accomplished!
If I were treated even half as well as my dogs, I'd love to be a pet!
On the flipside, I would not want to be one of those pets chained to a fence out in the front yard with no water or shade.
I wonder if this movie is going to have human-fighting.
RoboCop 3 is not what I would call a "good" sci-fi resume. It might be an extensive one, but it's not a good one.
This reminds me of a short story. Some humans crash on a planet and are captured by the highly superior beings on the planet. They become essentially exhibits in a zoo, and they try every way they can think of to show the zookeepers that they too are sentient intelligent beings. They find a rat-like creature and build it a little cage and feed it it, etc. This shows their keepers that they are intelligent beings, as only the sentient keep pets.
Anybody recognize it?
Sorry, but it was driving me crazy. It was called "The Cage" by a. Bertram Chandler. I didn't reread it, but the last line is, "Only rational beings put other beings in cages."
Look out. It's a cookbook.
Pets? We all know they just want us for our lower horn...
@RAHfanboy: Oddly, enough it sounds like an episode off of the awesome old show "Outer Limits". But sorry I can't think of anything else familiar.
@Silver_Back:

I found it. I remember the old "Outer Limits" but not that one.
