Worried that island castaway show Lost is getting too fast-paced? Never fear: The producers have pulled the emergency brake. The final two seasons will each be one hour longer than originally planned, to compensate for the strike-shortened fourth season. So the 2009 and 2010 seasons will each have 17 hours. Producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof had already warned that season five might seem a little slow and meandering compared to the breakneck pace of the current episodes. [Sci Fi Wire]

Didn't they learn any lessons from the beginning of season 2? People love the fast paced episodes, they don't want the slow ones. Lazy writers!
I'm ready for this show to end. They all need to get off the island and then it needs to blow up along with the insane Ben, who is in control of something wicked. Paradise Lost, as it were.
NOOOOOOO!!!! Good lord, MORE slow, arse-dragging crap ahead?
The writer's strike was one of the best things to happen to this show! This season was actually good.
Cuse and Lindelof need to put down the crack-pipe.
I think each season of Lost has been better than the previous one, which is a testament to the writers' skills. I can't wait to see how they mindfuck us at the end of this season!
I lost (ha!) my patience with Lost when Michael kept getting ornery over Walt. I so wanted to enjoy this...but all this and the added slowness of the show put me off. Oh well. :(
I doubt they'll intentionally make it slow paced. The thing is, this season was supposed to be 16 episodes, but the strike forced it down to 13, so they had to cram storylines in. Those lost hours are being put back in with two hours season finales, which weren't originally planned. So going from 14 hours to 17 hours is probably why they say season 5 will seem slower paced. They're not rushing to meet those self-imposed deadlines.
