When will the 3-D beast's lust for destroying movies be satisfied? Fangoria is now reporting that George A. Romero's legendary 70s classic, Dawn of the Dead, is getting rereleased in 3D. But at least they are refraining from re-editing this staple zombie flick in any way. Producer Richard Rubinstein said, 'George's Dawn of the Dead can be reformatted into 3-D without any editing, and the image looks spectacular!' He goes on to state that it will take about one year to complete the conversion. Do we really need 3D jutting zombie hands pulling out biker gang intestine? Why can't we focus our efforts simply on making better zombie movies right now, and stop relying on the crutch of another man's genius? [Fangoria via Bloody Disgusting]

I think we all know the answer to that question is "Yes."
It seems like an appropriate use of the word "need" anyway.
Yes, yes we do.
This kind of thing is WHY 3D movies were invented.
In fact, the only acceptable use of the entire 3D Movie Medium is Zombie Movies.
I've saw "Jaws 3D" in the theater. It's theoretically impossible for me to be disappointed by any 3D movie now.
Once you've got that as a basis for comparison, everything else is gummy bears and rainbows.
That would be awesome, especially if they shot it in a way where it looked like the zombie would drop the intestines on your lap!
@Dunny0:
I beg to differ. There's always porn...
Ooooo! Zombie Strippers 3D!!
@Miranda Kali:
I think 3D porn would be more terrifying than any zombie movie could hope to be...
Especially if it's one of those IMAX 3D movies. Certain parts would be neat, but you know the director would want to get creative and that just means "dodging giant dongs" for about an hour.
@Dunny0:
Now, THAT would be a livelier time than weasels on speed in the funhouse.
@darcymcgee: Me too! Why is that the most memorable scene to me?
Good lord! Thinking about Dawn of the Dead's elevator scene in 3D is giving me the willies. It was freaky enough before!
The more we do to prepare ourselves for the coming plague of living corpses, the better.
Don't follow everything you see in movies, though. For instance:
after you've smashed out a zombie's brain with a crowbar -
DO NOT DROP THE CROWBAR!, because there's always gonna be another one right behind you...
I am weary of 3D movies. Too much sizzle- not enough steak.
But this, I may sit through- if only to support George.
3d is the future of video, just like colour was.
