The Supergirl Series That Never Took FlightLex (Michael Rosenbaum) and Supergirl (Laura Vandervoort) reunited at the Toronto FanExpo to talk about Leaving Smallville and spill a few details about the upcoming season. But way more interesting was Vandervoort's off-hand reference to a Supergirl spin-off show that never saw the light of day. Spoilers ahead. Laura Vandervoort sounded sad to leave Smallville behind, but revealed that she would be back for one episode in the 8th season to tie up some loose ends for her character. Vandervoort also showed her fan-girl side, when talking about her favorite memory from working on Smallville. Apparently going toe-to-toe with the cheekbones of James Marsters (who played the evil Brainiac) was the highlight of her Smallville career, because she was such a huge Buffy The Vampire Slayer fan. At a young age, Vandervoort wrote to Buffy creator Joss Whedon asking to be on the show, which he remembered when she auditioned for him later. The Supergirl spin off series simply "didn't work out," according to Vandervoort. I'm curious as to why. She's gorgeous, and I tend to think there's a market out there for scantily clad superheroines. I think they should revisit this idea, with a 2 hour TV movie instead of a series. [The TV Addict]
