Are Webcasts The Future Of Television?

NBC announced that both Chuck and Knight Rider will be streaming their premiere episodes on Hulu a week before they air on the network. Fox will also be streaming Fringe and the Sarah Connor Chronicles via college internet at the same time as their television premieres (so you need to be on the schools domain). Are the big wigs finally getting it that people are starting to watch TV more and more from their computers?

Or is this just a desperate attempt for NBC to drum up some much needed press for it's new season?

Adding shows to Hulu has proven a smart move for some time now. The site has over 105 million streams in the month of July alone plus a growing catalog of stream seasons. Is this the beginning of the end for television? Robot overlords willing, it's only a matter of time before we don't have to pay apple for new episodes we've missed any more. [TV Week]
