Is the Internet Ready for a Pandemic?

Last week the U.S. Federal Communications Commission met to discuss how internet service providers and telcos would deal with a pandemic. No, they aren't worried about worms unleashed by naughty hackers. They're concerned about a 28 Days Later style situation. During such an event, speculated one official, "many workers would either work exclusively from home or from more remote locations that would limit their potential exposure to disease." So the whole world dying of disease will suck, but at least you'll get to telecommute. The big question is how network managers will keep everyone connected in the wake of such a huge disaster.
