And the surprise winner for fall TV's first hit? Fox's Fringe, which overcame a weaker-than-expected premiere to become one of Fox's key players in their weekly line-up, slowly winning over fans, gaining viewers and winning Tuesday nights for the network, leading to them ordering a full season. Is this a sign that network nervousness over ratings should be taken with a pinch of salt, or more proof that JJ Abrams somehow has a hotline to the collective subsconscious of mainstream audiences?
