If You Can Read This, Then Robot Cars May Be Close?SWith the election less than three weeks away, the liberal blogosphere is debating furiously... about driverless cars. Picking up on an article by Tim Lee over at Ars Technica, Matthew Yglesias at Think Progress gets excited by the idea that self-driving cars could eliminate the need for much parking space. After all, cars could park themselves anywhere, and move themselves at a moment's notice if they were in the way. But Kevin Drum at Mother Jones is skeptical: "If we ever do build a genuinely self-driving car, it means we're only a stone's throw away from nearly human-level artificial intelligence. More efficient parking will be the least of our worries at that point."
