Cormac McCarthy's Apocalyptic Movie Pushed Further Down The Road To 09?

Bad news, Cormac McCarthy fans — The Road's movie adaptation, featuring scraggily Viggo Mortensen, has now been pushed back from its original soft release dates of Nov. 14 and Nov. 26 to "at least December." The Hollywood Reporter is stating that the apocalyptic movie may even be pushed into the new year.

Right now, The Road now has a tentative release date of December 10th, because the studio execs at Weinstein Co. and producers of John Hillcoat's movie came to the conclusion that it was not done. The film is still in post-production, and still needs some work.

THR's sources explained that the Weinstein Co is eager to make this movie both an critical and commercial success. Part of the rush to get it out in 2008 was because they wanted it to be eligible for some awards. Luckily, the Weinsteins have another movie coming out Dec. 10: The Reader, which could be their big award-getter this year. Supposedly there will be a meeting this Thursday to discuss the films final release date.
