After shoving Cormac McCarthy's big screen adaptation further and further down (ahem) The Road, it sounds like a release date has finally been set. Plus, we scavenged up new stills from the spirit-shattering film.
After banishing John Hillcoat's adaptation of The Road to the next year, many wondered if the the burned down post apocalyptic future would ever see the light of day. But good news for those who like to be incredibly depressed! Bloody Disgusting is reporting that there will indeed be a release on October, 16 2009. Hopefully, the belated date means the studio took more time sprucing up FX and not tinkering with the overall premise due to a few terrible test screening reports. If this film is in any way true to the original source material, audiences should leave the theater feeling like every ounce of hope has been sliced from their soul with a dirty blade.
