It's Halloween month, which means it's the season for giving nice things to kids who come knocking at your door. That's why io9 has joined up with our sister blogs in the Gawker Media Network (Deadspin, Gawker, Jezebel, Gizmodo, Fleshbot, Lifehacker, Kotaku, and Jalopnik) to raise as much money as we can for schools in need. We're working with the awesome site Donors Choose, which helps educators get money for specific projects or school equipment.

Each blog in the Gawker Network chose 4 or 5 classroom projects to highlight, and now we're asking you to peruse the list and help us get books, science kits, learning tools, and equipment into the hands of kids who need them.

You can check out the list of classroom projects chosen by the Gawker Media Network sites right here. (io9 picked several projects that involve getting science fiction and science books.) Hey, if you have the cash to buy candy for kids on Halloween, surely you've got a few bucks to spare to feed these kids' brains.
