In Jeremy Geddes' photorealistic paintings, cosmonauts float weightlessly around the Earth, silently inspecting decrepit buildings, light fixtures, and flocks of pigeons. Are they aliens from another world? Or humans who returned to find the world different than they left it?

There's a distinctly narrative quality to Geddes' paintings, but they seem to ultimately offer more questions than answers. They invite the view to cook up stories for who these cosmonauts are, why they are floating, why the streets are empty, and how that one fellow ended up upside down with his or her helmet pushed up against the lamp.
