In Stephenie Meyer's Eclipse, the newborn vampire Bree Tanner lives and dies in a span of 10 pages. This June, Meyer will release a novella - The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner - detailing Bree's piddly, fanged existence.
The 192-page novella - which takes place during the events of Eclipse - will showcase Bree's transformation and evil vamp Victoria's attempts to create a sparkly army in Seattle. Bree meets her end when nasty Nosferatus Felix and Jane (Dakota Fanning in the movies) are less than impressed with Bree's unwillingness to drink blood. Jodelle Ferland will portray Bree in the Eclipse feature film.
Like J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter spin-offs, a portion of The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner will go to charity, in the case The American Red Cross. The book will be released on June 5 coincide with the release of the Eclipse movie on June 30. You can find more information at the Bree Tanner website.
