Love Actually Star Will Slay Zombies In Walking Dead

The Walking Dead's Rick Grimes has finally been cast. Thank goodness, producer Frank Darabont ditched Eli Stone and Lee Adama for a different Brit, Andrew Lincoln, better known as the "sign guy" from Love Actually.

THR broke the news that AMC has cast Lincoln in the brand new Walking Dead TV series. The writer of the comic book series, Robert Kirkman, had this to say about the casting:

"Andrew Lincoln, wow—what an amazing find this guy is," said Robert Kirkman, who wrote the comic book series upon which the series is based. "Writing Rick Grimes month after month in the comic series, I had no idea he was an actual living breathing human being and yet here he is. I couldn't be more thrilled with how this show is coming together."

And this is what we have to say: BULLET DODGED. It could have been Jamie Bamber. We know very little about Lincoln, other than we hope one day he shows up at our door with a stack of signs professing his undying affection, Love Actually-style. But Grimes, of course, is not really a romantic character. He's dirty, gritty and he has the weight of the undead world on his shoulders can Lincoln pull it off? We're hopeful.

Walking Dead, the monthly comic takes place after the end of the world. Main character Grimes wakes up in a hospital, to find the world consumed by zombies. From there he's on a mission to find his family and a safe place to live, and in doing so he picks up a random band of survivors who all look to Grimes as a leader. Production for the six-episode series begins in Atlanta in June.
