Check out the latest behind-the-scenes video from Disney's Sorcerer's Apprentice. Sure it's not high-concept, but its smacks of quality summer popcorn fare. And we're due for one good wide-screen action film that isn't plagued with wrecking balls and racist robots.
We're due for a new Mummy-esque/Pirates action adventure that you can take your kids to. And maybe Nic Cage can step to the plate and deliver. Sure, he looks like he's been on an all-night bender snorting Hadouken magic balls, but that's part of the fun isn't it? Dare we get cautiously optimistic for this film? Here are a few new pictures in which Cage is actually petting a giant metal Eagle. Are you not entertained?
Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) is a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina). Balthazar can't do it alone, so he recruits Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel), a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential, as his reluctant protégé. The sorcerer gives his unwilling accomplice a crash course in the art and science of magic, and together, these unlikely partners work to stop the forces of darkness. It'll take all the courage Dave can muster to survive his training, save the city and get the girl as he becomes "The Sorcerer's Apprentice."
Sorcerer's Apprentice will be in theaters July 16, 2010.
