Splice:

The Russian poster for this gene-splicing film really plays up the sexiness. [Slashfilm]

And Sarah Polley explains how she prepared to play a rebel geneticist:

We got to follow around geneticists for a while. I was in a lab for three weeks. The truth is, Clive and Elsa aren't that far off. They're far off from their lack of ethics and their crazy ambition, but in terms of being young and alive, I saw a lot of that. They're doing important work, they're trying to cure cancer, so you have a certain motivation when you get up every morning.

X-Men: First Class:

Speculation continues that director Matthew Vaughn will cast Aaron Johnson, who starred in Vaughn's last movie, as one of the teen mutants in this film. Could he be playing a young Colossus? In any case, there's a photo of Johnson, Vaughn and Charles Xavier actor James McAvoy hanging out a couple weeks ago. So take that for what you will. [CinemaBlend]

The Smurfs:

Now there's actual set video of Hank Azaria filming a scene at FAO Schwartz as Gargamel, who's supposedly searching for Grouchy Smurf. And then he bumps into Neil Patrick Harris. [Ajhp23 via Slashfilm]

Cowboys And Aliens:

Adam Beach joined the cast of this movie, whose title is self-explanatory. He'll play Nat Colorado, a half-Apache who works for Harrison Ford's character, Woodrow Dollarhyde. [Variety]

Real Steel:

Hope Davis, James Rebhorn and Olga Fonda joined the cast of this robot boxing epic, which already includes Hugh Jackman, Dakota Goyo, Evangeline Lilly, Kevin Durand and Anthony Mackie. The movie starts filming next month. [Variety]

The Last Airbender:

The Crow:

This reboot could start filming later this year, and a major actor has been approached to star. The script by director Stephen Norrington is done and in great shape, and Norrington has collaborated on some illustrations with Avatar production designer Rob Stromberg, that are very different than Alex Proyas' original vision. The film starts out in the Southwest, like Arizona or New Mexico, and then relocates to a city like Detroit or Pittsburgh, before going back to the Southwest. [MTV]

Mission Impossible IV:

Tom Cruise talks up the fourth installment, but doesn't reveal much. He does say that director Brad Bird will put his own spin on it, including "an incredible sense of story and wit" that you can see in The Incredibles. As for the story, Cruise will only say, "It's sick. It's fun, really fun." [MTV]

Doctor Who:

At long last, we get to see the Richard Curtis episode, "Vincent and the Doctor." And here are some clips:

And here are four photos from the finale, "The Pandorica Opens." People say you can glimpse Rory in one of the Roman soldier crowd pics, but I haven't spotted him yet. [TV Overmind]

If you didn't already guess that the two-part season finale is set in Stonehenge in Roman times... it is, according to Doctor Who Magazine. [Gallifrey News Base]

Heroes:

Yes, there are still Heroes spoilers! Apparently we'll know in the next month or so whether this show will get a final miniseries to wrap up its storylines. And Tim Kring says that if the show comes back, we'll skip ahead one year and see a changed world in the wake of Claire's "coming out":

There will be a huge cultural and social change in the world. Some [of our characters] will be hiding, some struggling, some basking in the glory.

Claire will wind up as a reluctant spokesperson for the mutants, while Sylar will — surprise! — struggle with his dark side. And Adrian Pasdar will be back, though not as the dead Nathan. Are we excited yet? [TV Guide]
