Ernie Cline, writer of Fanboys, in which four geeks journey to Skywalker Ranch, has reportedly closed a book and movie deal for his debut YA novel, Ready Player One. Which is being called Avatar meets Matrix, with a little Wonka.

Heat Vision broke the news that Warner Brothers won the massive bidding war for Cline's new YA book movie rights. The book, which features anti-hero Wade Watts, takes place in the near future, in which you can escape by mentally plugging into The Oasis. When the founder of the virtual world dies, Watts joins in for the mental scavenger hunt to find the billionaire's fortune.

Donald De Line, Green Lantern producer, is currently linked to the film and Cline will write the screenplay. Will brain-computer interfaces become the new vampires, what with Avatar and Tron on the rise?
