Concept artist Tim Flattery's career has stretched back to Back To The Future and Tim Burton's Batman, and he's worked on Tron Legacy. But when we asked him his favorite project, he named Soderbergh's Solaris. It's easy to see why.

Flattery told us, "I wanted to be a concept artist because of all the making of books I read as a student and my love for science fiction." He was also inspired by the work of Syd Mead, especially "the mechanical dog race," and anything by Ralph McQuarrie.

Here are some of Flattery's incredible concept art images from Solaris, plus a few equally inspiring space art pieces from Mission To Mars and Chronicles Of Riddick. You can see a ton more of Flattery's movie concept art at the link. [Tim Flattery]
